Author's Note: This is a story that I've begun to write, but I'm not sure if it'd be any good. I wanted to post it here to get some... advice? I don't know, just read it and if you like it, don't like it, have critical thoughts, leave them in reviews please! This is not a ploy to get reviews, I really do want to know what you guys think of it. It's sort of an alternate view of Severus and Lily's relationship. I know, it's been done a thousand times before, but I was bored and started it and, yeah. So, please, could you help me?

It was just another simple summer day. Until she came along. She was anything and everything but simple. Severus first saw a flash of flaming red hair. He quickly followed to see what made such a beautiful light. He saw a girl running, smiling, shining. She was perfection. She stopped at the swings of a nearby playground, jumped up on the half-moon seat and waited for something, or someone. Severus watched as she slowly started swinging, humming as she gained speed. He ducked behind a bush, hiding from her, but still peeking from behind the leaves. Apparently, whoever she was waiting for was late. She didn't seem to worry, though; she just kept swinging and humming.

Severus looked closer at the redhead girl. She was wearing a light pink sundress and thin-strapped sandals. Severus jumped up; a sudden urge to meet this wonder overtook him. He walked up to the swinging girl.

"Er… Hello." Severus said weakly.

The girl lost her rhythm, but caught it quick and kept swinging.

"Hello." She said, a slightly skeptical look in her eye.

"Who are you?" Severus blurted out. He realized that his statement probably wasn't polite and quickly followed it with, "Er, what's your name? I'm Severus."

The girl dug her heels into the warm sand below to stop the swing, then jumped off.

"I'm Lily."

Severus jutted his hand out, hoping she would return it.

Lily hesitantly took it.

"Hello Lily." Severus said, smiling. Lily smiled as well.

Al of a sudden, someone came crashing through the brush. Lily and Severus looked up.

"Tuney!" Lily squealed. She ran toward the slightly older looking blonde girl. Petunia had a look about her as if she constantly had a foul smell in her nose. She opened her arms to hug Lily, but kept her eyes on Severus.

"Severus!" Lily said, jumping from Petunia's arms, "This," she motioned to her sister fantastically, "is my sister, Petunia."

Petunia stood there, an almost permanent scowl upon her face, still staring at Severus.

"Hi, I'm Severus." He said, sticking his hand out.

Petunia didn't return it, but instead crossed her arms and pursed her lips.

Severus was forced to lower his hand awkwardly.
