R/R?
Shivering and covered with cold sweat, Jamie woke from his fifth nightmare that week.
He blinked owlishly into the darkness cloaking his room, trying to adjust his eyes with no avail.
There seemed to be absolutely no light in his bedroom.
On another night Jamie would have simply tiptoed out of his bed and flipped the light switch on the wall as he had done for the first few nightmares but when the third time to flip the switch came the bulb had shattered, sending millions of sharp porcelain colored glass raining down.
The same night his mother had cleaned up the broken shards and replaced the bulb, she had assured him there was nothing to be afraid of that his room was safe to sleep in.
But Jamie was afraid and remembering the shattered bulb scared him most of all so he stayed in his bed with his legs pulled to his chest and his cover pulled tightly around him. Jamie willed himself to keep his eyes shut but somehow his eyes would always end up open and with a jolt he would find himself staring the unnerving shadows the moon's dull light cast on his bedroom wall.
Jamie wished he could work up enough nerve to shut the blinds or better yet call out to his mother but his voice seemed to disappear whenever he tried.
During the hours Jamie sat awake in his bed after a nightmare he found himself wishing and praying for many things, he wished Jack was still in Burgess he was sure he wouldn't be having nightmares if Jack was there, Jamie wished he could just go back to sleep but most of all he wished the aftermath of last week hadn't haunted him with nightmares.
The worst part of it all was it seemed to be only him who was having nightmares now, when he had asked his friends they had all reported good dreams the handful and just the other morning Sophie had excitedly bounced into the kitchen squealing about how Bunny had visited her in Candy Land and though he would never wish a nightmare on any of his friends or his little sister Jamie was beginning to feel alone.
Suddenly he found his eyes open again this time his eyes fell on a chair that was shrouded by dark shadows in the corner of the room, Jamie found himself unable to shut his eyes again instead they traced over the silhouette of the chair and slowly moved to the window frame, Stiffly Jamie tilted his head for a better view, the moon was full and not a cloud filled the navy blue sky the few stars out twinkled brightly it was almost comforting but Jamie couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched and any form of comfort was lost on him, Jamie shivered as he turned from the window.
The words 'Boogeyman' and 'Pitch' kept floating around his head at first he laughed them off after all Pitch was stuck in a hole in the ground.
Wasn't he?
Jamie felt something tickling his nose, he quickly pressed his comforter to his nose, now fearing if he made any noise he would unleash some horror that might be hiding in his darkened room, a second later the tickling sensation passed and Jamie released his comforter and berated himself internally for behaving so cowardly.
There was a thump on his window, Jamie froze his heart leapt into his throat, as he waited for something to happen after a minute nothing happened and Jamie to try to relax telling himself it was just a tree branch.
Half an hour later Jamie managed to slip into another fitful rest.
Outside a sharp whinny resounded through the street.
It's two O'clock in the morning here and it seems like my brain is moving faster than my fingers, so if there are any errors or funny sentences please, please tell me.
Love,
Trinity.
