A Conversation
Tim entered his apartment, and quietly turned on the lights. Shrugging off his jacket, he sighed as he headed into the kitchen. Grabbing a beer from the fridge, he felt a cold breeze on his neck.
"Hi Kate," he said, turning around to look into his living room, where he saw her standing. He knew she was just a hallucination his imagination produced, but it was still comforting.
"How was work, Tim?" she asked, smiling.
"Quiet. Nothing new came up. Spent most of the day, finishing reports up."
"How's everyone?"
"Okay. Gibbs is back to being Gibbs. Ducky's feeling better too. Not as quiet. Abby stopped crying at the drop of a hat."
"Tony?"
McGee sighed. "He took it harder then any of us, you know."
She nodded. "I figured as much. He's really a sweetheart. He just doesn't show it much."
"He loves you. He always has. He just didn't want you to know."
"I knew. Or at least, I had a feeling."
McGee smiled, even though tears were stinging his eyes.
"Don't cry Tim. I can't stand to see anyone cry over me. It breaks my heart."
"I don't want to say goodbye to you. Not again."
"This isn't goodbye, Tim. It's just so long for now."
He nodded and turned away. "Will I see you again?" he asked, as he turned back towards her.
Giving him a playful smile, she stepped into a rainbow of light, and vanished.
"I love you Kate." he whispered.
He was answered by silence.
