The darkness. I often thought of it from a rather curious standpoint. It had a strange lure to it. Being a guardian, I've always been told that the darkness wants nothing more than to put an end to all of humanity and it's allies. Why? Is it because the traveler has decided humanity to be its champion? Or is it really just evil incarnated? No matter the case, it's clear it wants to end us.

But I had to ask myself, "could one harness the darkness, just as we have made the light into a weapon?" This was something I had to get an answer to. I went to my fellow fireteam never about my quest. She was... Unsupportive, to say the least. "How could you dare think such things?! Do you not recall what happened to Toland?" I remember. He went down into the darkness with Eris and the others. While Eris was the only known survivor, it's thought that Toland lives yet.

As a Warlock, I have a natural curiosity of the things around me. I studied alongside the Speaker- boring fellow, that one. We talked and theorized what the darkness exactly wants to do and what is inside of the traveler. He thinks that there is a new form of guardian lies within it. I personally think there isn't anything in there, just a giant floating husk above us. But who knows, maybe there's something worthwhile in there. But that's not my focus. It's the darkness I care about.

I decided the best way to go about all of this would be to keep the vanguard out of it all. If they even caught wind of what I had planned, they might give me the same cold shoulder as Toland. What would life be if I wouldn't be able to return to the city after being out I'm the wild? I can't allow that to happen, not yet at least. I just need to keep things to myself. Maybe I should talk to the team and see if they're up for another trip into the darkness.

My team was a small one, there was only four of us. A warlock, a Titan, and the hunter brothers. I myself being the Warlock, my longtime friend, Kapri, our Titan and the rather strongest one of us, and then there's the brothers. Chaz-3 and Thaad-2. We were a damn fine team of guardians.

When I approached them with the idea of turning the darkness into some form of power. The brothers were all for it, even knowing the dangers if something were to go wrong. K bitched us out. She warned of if we were to go through with this plan, she would personally alert the vanguard and stop us. Too bad she didn't wanna come with us. That son of a bitch, Cayde, called me out. "Watch your back, Guardian."
