She slapped Craig hard across his face before making a dramatic exit off the stage. The audience remained stunned all except one, who's heart raced as he pushed his way past the crowds of confused people. He didn't know why, but he had to go after her. The look of hurt Ashley's face portrayed would cause anyone decent to feel concerned. She needed comforting and he felt obligated to provide it for her.
'What had Craig done?' He questioned himself as his feet led him into the lonely halls of Degrassi. He didn't trust Ashley going out with him from the start. Like always, however, he kept his feelings to himself.
A new eruption of tears cascaded down Ashley's damp cheeks as she heard footsteps behind her. She spun around with intentions to scream at her boyfriend, ex now, for following her but found herself in the warm arms of Jimmy Brooks instead. Her sobs deepened as he stood there, holding her tightly. Of course, Craig didn't even come after her. What an ass.
"Oh my god, Jim'-" She began but her crying cut her off.
"It's okay, Ash', it's okay." Jimmy repeatedly whispered in the girl's ear. Jimmy devoloped a lump in his throat as he breathed in Ashley's sweet perfume. He missed the way she smelt, he missed her hugs, her touch, he missed her. He wasn't going to ask her what had happened, he would let her speak on her own time.
Ten minutes had went by before she finally did and of all the reasons for Ashley's distress, he was not expecting her explanation.
"He cheated on me." She whispered softly, avoiding his eyes. They were now both seated, leaning against a row of lockers.
He felt his heart drop to his stomach as he pictured Craig kissing another girl. Jimmy's fist clenched and he cautiously stole a glance at the depressed teenager next to him.
Realizing his loss of words, she pressed on. "I'm so stupid for actually believing he loved me, Jim'." She said desperately and wiped her eyes with fustration.
"Craig is the stupid one ." Jimmy finally found his voice. "I should teach him a lesson."
"Don't, I probably did something wrong." She studied her shoes, wishing she was anybody but herself.
"Do you really believe that?" Jimmy growled at her, causing her to tense up.
"I don't know." She admitted quietly.
"It's his loss." Jimmy cracked his knuckles with anger. "He's missing out on the most incredible girl I know."
Ashley's weeping haulted and she found herself blushing. He noticed this and turned away, immediately feeling embarassed.
"Do you really think so?" She inquired after a few seconds.
Jimmy took a deep breath.
"I can't remember a time when I didn't."
