New Found Wonderment
Princess Garnet lay face up on the bed the four travelers had gotten at the inn. She had so many thoughts going through her mind right now. She looked over at Zidane lying on his back, eyes closed, fast asleep. He had just taken them through the Ice Cavern. Though he said nothing happened, Princess Garnet thought differently. Something happened when everyone, including herself passed out.
"Rusty" as Zidane called him, had filled Garnet in on what had happened in the Evil Forest. Zidane's friend, Blank, had sacrificed his life to save Zidane's when they were running from the petrifying forest.
Garnet sat up and looked at Zidane more closely. He's sacrificed so much for me, and he barely even knows me. He does as I ask, and tonight he said he would risk his own life to save mine. Why am I so nervous?
*flash back*
Princess Garnet walked into the Inn following Zidane and Vivi and was shocked when Zidane proposed that the four sleep in the same room! Princess Garnet never in a million years would have imagined sleeping in the same room with three other boys/men!
"I know how you feel, Princess, but there aren't any private rooms." Zidane had told her, knowing her reluctance.
*end flashback*
And now I'm here, practically sleeping next to him!
Princess Garnet slid her feet over the side of the bed and quietly walked over to the bed where Zidane was sleeping. She smiled at the sight before her. Zidane had half his body on the bed, half out, and the thin blanket only covered half his body.
She raised the blanket up and covered him the rest of the way. Then, lifted her hand up to move a lock of blond hair away from his eyes. He's so cute when he sleeps.
She didn't know what she felt for him, but she definitely owed him a lot. Without him, they would never have gotten away from the castle, upon her wish. They would never have survived their encounter inside the Evil Forest, or even made it out of there in one piece, without being petrified.
She suspected something happened at the Ice Cavern, but if Zidane wanted to keep his secret, she'd let him, after all, she was keeping a secret from all of them.
I really need to find a way to show my gratitude to him someday, after everything is over. Garnet suddenly felt over whelmed by this feeling towards him and bent over to kiss his forehead. As she lowered her head, Zidane mumbled her name in his sleep and rolled over to the side.
Garnet was surprised and moved back up, shaking her head. What am I thinking? She went back over to her bed and laid back down. She took one more look at him before closing her eyes. I'll wake up early tomorrow and sort out my thoughts, but right now, I need some sleep.
