He was in a strange world. People walked around tall structures carried small devices that constantly make noises. A chime, a bird, and a bell all seemed to fit in these small squares. Moving pieces of metal carried people on black strips of material. Some places there were so many they could not even move. At these stops, the people inside displayed their anger by hitting a button that made a loud sound. Where was the forest? Few trees were spaced among the landscape in pots, but no animals lived in them. Children could not play in them, they were so small.
Where was he? In a city of men? It did not look like any kingdom he had seen. The structures were too high, they reached the clouds. But men lived there. This was so confusing. He asked himself, "Where am I?" many times. He tried to take in his surroundings, but everything was so different. So big. So new.
People walked around him. They pushed and shoved. They did not even look up from the squares they carried. There were so many people. There were hundreds, thousands, millions. Elves could not stand against these numbers. They would be overpowered in minutes. What was this feeling? He was ... frightened. Scared over the power these people could unleash.
Finally, one looked up from the tiny rectangle he pressed and tapped. Pointing and staring he seemed speechless. The elf grabbed his dagger. Seeing the weapon, the person screamed. He realized what would happen if all the people, now starting to look up, attacked him, so he ran into the nearest building.
Looking at his surroundings, he was even more confused than before. There were less people here, small children studying a huge beast made from bones. He stayed in the shadows, watching. A small girl saw him. She moved away from the group and walked to the elf. She seemed happy, with a smile on her face. Why was this girl so happy?
Suddenly, she spoke. "I know that you're Legolas," she whispered.
He was shocked. Speechless. Scared. How did she know him?
"You are my favorite character," she said quietly.
Character? What did this mean? What did she mean to tell him?
He decided to speak to her. "What do you mean?" He was so confused about everything in this world.
Her smile grew even larger than before. "You don't know, do you?" She led him out of the building to go somewhere. Hesitantly, he followed her to a new, smaller structure. Words on the side lit up, spelling: The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Now Playing
The girl walked into the building. "Two tickets for The Hobbit, please," she told a person through a window with a small hole. She handed the man a few pieces of green paper.
When seeing Legolas, the man laughed. "You must be a fanboy! I see millions of those a day. Great costume!"
Legolas looked confused. He didn't have a lot of time to be confused, though. The girl pushed him into the doors. "Come on!"
They saw moving pictures. He saw elves in his kingdom. Wait! That was him! He remembered this! A bunch of dwarfs escaped, not that long ago.
The girl saw his face and giggled.
They left the building when the moving pictures finally stopped. The small girl said, "That was you in a movie. I know there is nothing like this where you live, but I see movies all of the time." She looked so excited. "I can't believe that I met you! You are the best!" She wrapped her arms around him in a strong hug.
Suddenly, he was in his bed. Legolas Greenleaf looked around himself and smiled. It was just a dream. The sights he saw could never exist, anywhere or anytime. He laughed at the amazing things and images his mind could create, then dressed for a day of protecting his kingdom from orcs and spiders.
