Leafpool padded through the dark forest along with Jayfeather, nervously glancing up at the tree leaves that rustled above them.

"You must be very careful," Leafpool warned him, "Listen to the prophecy. I have a feeling this will be a very important moment in Thunderclan." Jayfeather shivered slightly, as he knew his mentor was never wrong, but did not let on about his fear. Instead, he carelessly brushed past her. The dim light of the moon shone in the distance and guided the medicine she-cat's way as she followed him. The forest floor was damp and cold, filled with rocks and making the night even more lonely.

"Stop, Jayfeather!" Leafpool jumped in front of him. "We're here." The hawk's sharp cry faded into the distance and she breathed a sigh of relief. "You almost fell in." He shrugged and settled down by the cool waters. They were refreshing, but as cold as the night, and he knew if he had fallen he would have died.

"Thank you," he meowed, though could barely speak the kind words aloud. He closed his eyes tightly and began to dream.

Jayfeather found himself in a dark place, a place he recognized as Starclan by the river running through it. Something looks different, he thought, but he dared not say anything. "Hello?" he called. "Hello?" No answer came. "I need to know… know what's happening…" Suddenly, his eyes flickered open and he could see that the land was not Starclan, but Thunderclan. It was empty and baron, strong winds sweeping through it. Raindrops began to fall. "What happened?" He shrieked. Bluestar appeared, her eyes sad and lifeless. "Thunderclan must come to end… please warn them, Jayfeather, for the sake of all the clans." Bluestar's body slowly started to disappear, Tigerstar's body taking her place.

"I need answers!" Jayfeather growled. "You can't leave yet!"

Tigerstar's cackling laughter echoed through the forest. "No… no!"

"What happened?" Leafpool's soothing voice calmed him.

"Nothing," Jayfeather faltered, "Nothing at all…"
