It started with a letter from an old friend;
Dear Luke Triton,
My, it's been awhile! Do you realize how hard it was to get your current street address? Regardless, I think that since I found this gem of an address, I am obligated to visit you in your new house. So, a good week after I send this letter, I'm going to begin to back my bags to visit. Hopefully, I should arrive a few days after this letter arrives to you. Hope to see you again after so long!
Best wishes, Arianna Barde
Keeper and Mistress of Barde Manor of Misthallery
Luke smiled at the thought of his old friend coming for a visit, his new friend and neighbor wasn't so keen on it though.
"Who is she?" his friend, Natalya asked. "You never mentioned an 'Arianna Barde' before, and you've been in town for over five years!"
"Arianna's an old friend," Luke explained, "It would be nice to see her again."
Natalya looked at him.
"There's more to this story than you're letting on, isn't there?" she asked, taking note in his facial expression. Luke laughed at her.
"There isn't, honest Natty." He said with a smile. Natalya glared at him.
"You know you hate it when someone calls me 'Natty.'" She told him.
"A proper gentleman only teases the ladies he knows and loves well." Luke informed her. Natalya made a sound of disgust, but smiled as she left which made Luke believe she wasn't angry at him. With his friend gone, Luke thought back to the last time he saw Arianna. Eight years. Has it really been that long? Did he look that different from what he did then? Sure, he had grown goodness knows how many kilometers since then, but he still had his hat. The old thing, dark blue from weather and tear, it still somehow fit his head pretty well. Would that be enough for Arianna to recognize him?
Then there was Natalya, who could not be described in only one word. She was his neighbor, to begin with, and one of the first friends he had after moving from London. But she was…. scattered. An American military brat that had more spice in her than sugar, it was hard to keep up with what the girl's thoughts on a normal basis. But once she started to open up to him as a friend that would last, the duo had remained as close as brother and sister.
Now Arianna was coming for a visit! Remembering her gave Luke an adrenaline rush you could only wish a roller coaster gave you. How much had she grown over the last eight years? Thinking of that made Luke a little queasy, but in a good way. But he was excited, no doubt, about what would take fold next.
