Rory sat down on her bed, dropping her bags on the floor. Taking out her phone, she checked her voicemail. She only had one, from her mom.
'Hi, Rory, it's me. How's school? You learning stuff? Listen, we have the horses, Desdemona and Cletus, and the first two rides have to be me and you. And hopefully, you're over the time that I took you for the pony ride, and the pony was old and just sort of stopped and laid down, and you sort of rolled off into the ditch. It's really not likely to happen again. I promise. So, call me, call me.'
Smiling, Rory shut her phone and looked out the window. She hasn't been learning stuff, because she hasn't been paying attention. Three words kept going through her mind in the same husky voice. Over and over again.
I love you.

Passing the Star's Hollow sign, Rory grinned. She had decided to come home for the weekend. Parking in the crap-shack driveway, Rory got out of her car and headed into her house.
"Mom?" Rory called out.
"Rory?" Lorelei responded.
"Marco!"
"Polo!"
Rory found her mother sitting in the kitchen looking at the phone. Confused, Rory sat down, across from her and spoke.
"Having a staring contest, or something?"
"Jason's supposed to call."
"What are you? A teenager?" Rory was a bit bitter. Stupid Jess.
"We all are, at heart."
Looking away from the phone, Lorelei sighed, realizing that Jason wouldn't call. He had started to call her less and less, and Lorelei had to get to the bottom of it… Later.
"So, how's my Yale-y?" Lorelei asked.
"Tired. Exhausted. Hungry."
"Luke's?"
Rory nodded her head, getting up and following her mother at the door. Maybe Luke would know where Jess was. No! I'm not going to think about Jess! Rory though to herself.
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
"LUKEY!" Lorelei called out as she walked in the diner.
Grunting, Luke came out from behind the kitchen. Walking over to the table Lorelei and Rory where sitting at, Luke pulled out his pad of paper.
"Talk."
"Someone's grumpy." Lorelei pointed out, taking off her coat.
"Caesar called in sick. I've been dealing with this stupid crowed all morning. Don't be calling me grumpy."
"Fine. I'll have my usual."
"Me too." Rory chipped in.
"Coming right up." Luke simply said and walked away.
"I'll be right back." Rory said to her mom.
"Okay, hun." Lorelei said, smiling gently.
Getting up, Rory followed Luke who went behind the counter. Sitting on a stool, Rory just stared at Luke.
"Yes?" Luke finally said.
"Where's Jess?"
"Wha--?"
"Where's Jess?"
"I don't know."
"Luke."
Sighing, Luke looked down at the floor. He, in fact, did know where Jess was. Jess had finally called him for once in his life, giving him a cell phone number and where he was living.
"Here. You didn't get this from, though." Luke said, giving her Jess' address and phone number.
"This no, the drugs, yes."
"You are exactly like your mother."
"Aww, thanks!" Rory smirked.
"Ah, jeez."
"Really, Luke. Thanks." Rory smiled gently, slipping the piece of paper into her pocket. She would find Jess, no matter how hard it was going to be.
