The troubles of trying to sleep as a espeon has at night. Short oneshot

The pitter pattering of the rain on the house's roof in the darkness, it eases my heart in a strange way. It's almost like a lullaby, but I would prefer a actual one compared to it. Sighing, I paw at my a itch on my face, but then stop as I mentally yell at myself. "I'm supposed to stay still so that I can fall asleep faster." I sigh once again, this time in defeat and get up to stretch. My legs had fallen asleep before I had. Getting off the futon mattress on the floor I catch my barely noticeable reflection in the nearby mirror.

In the glass, only the outline of my body could be seen (the red gem and forked tail namely). Too bad I could not see my lavender fur due to it being what felt like midnight. Pushing my looks aside, I walked in a circle to remove the tingling feeling in my hind legs.

Round and round I go, only to get back to the corner where I was resting and lay down on the plush mattress. "I'm pretty sure that master does not have this problem". As much as I love that human, I envy his ability to sleep like the dead.

Eh, less about him and more about me trying to sleep. "But I have no idea how to fall asleep faster." I grimace as I decide that just laying around will not get me anywhere. I once again get off the mattress and just decide to explore the house in the dark. It has helped me sleep before, so it will probably work again.

I decide to start with the room I sleep in. A tube tv is in the corner opposite to my corner ... "and I'm bored already. I suppose I should just look at the ceiling or something." I decide to do just that, I have nothing better to do and I think I might be hallucinating at this point due to lack of sleep.

I'm not joking about the hallucinations, I am starting to see shadows move in the corners of my eyes. I just need to rest. I just lay down and close my eyes. That's right. Just relax. I feel the weight of the darkness increasing on my eyelids.

"Yes, just like..." A thunderous boom shakes the entire room. The door rattles on its hinges like its about to come apart before falling silent. For a split second the entire room is lit up like a christmas tree by a majestic flash of light, before falling back into darkness. "So close, yet so far" I was so close to passing out! Might as well try again to hopefully different results.

Just need to close my eyes and … there we go. Complete darkness, there we go. Now just to let my mind wander. … and of course the first thing I think of is pancakes, because of course it is. Then burritos, limes, cakes, and steaks assault my mind as my mouth waters. Did I not have dinner? I am pretty sure I had eaten.

Eventually everything goes black, darkness steaming by me in waves. Up and down, over and over again.

… I open my eyes and I am greeted by sunlight. So much for trying to lucid dream.
