Caring For His Heart

Heart is smart. Heart is innocent. Heart is gonna be a great leader one day. What about Ace? What about me? How come I never once heard, Ace will be a champion? Sometimes I envy Heart. Do people usually prefer the girl over the boy twin?

Heart. Makes me sick just thinking of her name. She thinks I'm a cults. She thinks I'm a loser. I thought I didn't care...

Now, my little sister... my only sister... my twin... is laying in bed in total sickness. I know she'll get better. I know! But... just seeing her suffer makes me feel miserable. I suddenly relieze why Heart was so special. She was kind at heart, I knew that. That's all she was. I guess there's irony in her name. Just looking at her now burns guilt in my belly..

"B-Brother...?"

I look down to see Heart staring at me through glazed eyes. "How do you feel?"

"I feel sick," she said weakly.

"You are sick."

"Then why ask?"

"I was hoping you'd feel better today...What do you think caused you to be sick?"

"Possibly that fish Dad told us not to eat..."

"We should have listened to Dad..." Luckily, I have a way stronger immune system that she does... If only it was the other way around.

"But we never listen to Dad," she pointed out.

I chuckle. "True." I stop laughing. "Are you gonna be okay?"

"Of course I will..."

I smile and get up to go, but she grabs my hand.

"I didn't say you could leave."

I laugh a bit. "I guess you didn't."

I sit on her bed and she scoots up to lay on my knees. I stroke her head, feeling myself getting ready to cry. I must treat her better... She needs me and I need her. We're connected. We're twins. She's my sister. End of story.
