I've decided that this story needs to be a little bit darker to go along with the theme and I just would like to change it up a bit, so without further ado,

Let's read….

Chapter One: Darkness Awakens…

He sighed as he walked down the streets of Konoha; seeing all the happy villagers wearing their warm clothing that protected them from the elements, while he was garbed in ragged, worn clothing. A grey long sleeved shirt and his two sizes too large black cargo pants, which were only held up by his belt, did little to keep the frost out. He suddenly stumbled and when he was able to steady himself he looked down at his feet. The tape that kept his boots together was starting to wear thin of its adhesive. He sighed once again; he'll find some better ones to replace the pair he had on tonight.

He looked towards the horizon and judged the amount of time he had left to gather his supplies and get back home.

'Well, no time like the present…' he thought as he ushered forward.

-(One Hour Later)-

'Fuck my luck!' The blonde haired child thought as he ran from the mob of enraged villagers.

He ran down the alley ways and took a sharp right. When he saw an eight foot high fence ten yards ahead of him, he threw his bag of stolen supplies over the fence and jumped onto the trash can that was in front of the fence and did a secondary jump off of it. Using the upward momentum; he scaled the fence and was over it.

Once he touched ground he wasted no time; he made a hand sign and a carbon copy of him appeared from a puff of smoke. He quickly pointed in a direction for the clone to follow and grabbed his supplies again. He only had a time frame of eighteen seconds for him to disappear and to trick the villagers into chasing the clone. He quickly ran and hid between two walls, so that the villagers would not see the real him hide, while the clone led them away.

He counted down the remaining amount of time he had left till the villagers would find his clone; he was in perfect synchronization.

"Over there!"

"I see him!"

"Don't lose sight of him!"

Naruto waited till he heard the sounds of the villagers fade away, before he slipped out and quickly headed home.

-(Five Minutes Later)-

Naruto silently crept around the corner of the ally with his senses opened wide. He had learned never to let his guard down, even if he was close to his home. Speaking of so, he had finally reached his destination and now stood in front of a fire escape ladder that was on the side of the building.

He looked left then right to see if it was safe enough to scale the ladder without getting stabbed in the back.

'Clear enough…' Naruto nodded to himself and started to climb the side of the building.

He climbed the up the abandon apartment until he reached a window. He slid it opened and stepped into the building, before latching the window shut. He felt around in the darkness, grabbed a hold of a candle and lit it.

Naruto walked over to table and placed the candle on the table. Then he proceeded to empty out the contents of the bag onto the table. The bag held a new long sleeve shirt, black cargo pants that actually fit him, new boots, some food, and a book of the Elemental Nations.

Naruto quickly changed into the new clothing and made a meal from what little he had. He picked up the book and tried to read the Elemental Nations book as he ate. Reading information about all the major villages, and cities; looking at the sights his world had, and marking down the location that he wanted to visit.

When he finished his stolen meal, he walked over towards his 'bed', which was create that had some hay for cushions and bed sheets for some minor warmth, and continued to reading the book till he fell asleep.

-(later)-

Naruto jolted awake, something was wrong.

He looked around the room and saw no one had entered it.

He did a quick check over and felt no fever, headaches, or stomachs aches, the food had not been poisoned.

He kept checking over everything that could have woken him up, but found nothing.

'So what woke me up?' He thought.

Wait…he sniffed the air twice. Realization suddenly hit once he found out what was in the air.

'Smoke...'

Naruto quickly rose to his feet and ran towards the door. He grabbed the door knob and jerked the door opened. A wall of smoke hit his face and he started to cough, he slammed the door shut and quickly tore a long strip of fabric off his old clothing and damped it with some left over water. He wrapped the moist fabric around his nose and mouth and opened the door; he walked through the layers of smoke until he was in front of the railing and looked down. To his horror the entire lower level of the apartment was becoming a raging inferno. Naruto quickly ran back into his room and slammed the door shut; he grabbed his bag and started placing the small amount of treasured items inside it.

'How did they find me?' Naruto thought as he hurried to the window. His question was soon answered when he leered out the window. An entire mob was in the alley way and leading the villagers was a man that had a red triangle like tattoo on his cheek, at his side were two large mountain dogs.

'No, damn it!' Naruto cursed.

The Inuzuka's had never been kind to him, especially this particular one. He would always chase Naruto around the woods and let his dogs tear at his skin. Naruto shook his head clean of the memories, he had to get out of this building and get to the old man. He knew that the lower levels would give away in a short time and all the alley ways had been blocked off by the villagers.

Naruto looked around the area, hoping to find an alternate escape route. Wait, Naruto looked across the alleyway and saw the building across from his was close enough for him to jump it.

Naruto quickly dug into his bag and pulled out two strips of paper, 'was hoping to save these…' he slapped the two sheets of paper onto either side of the window and pushed a small amount of chakra into them.

Once he saw the ends of the paper start to ignite, he got as far back as he could in the apartment and waited. He could feel the heat of the flames through the walls and hear the groan of the apartment structure. He had to get this right or else he would either be blown up or burnt alive.

He saw the paper four-fifths burnt up and that's when he started to run towards the window. Once he had passed half of the apartment up the window exploded and caused a huge hole in the wall to the outside to appear. Naruto reached the edge of the remaining wall and jumped with all his might.

Everything seemed to slow down as he got closer to the ledge of the other building. If he could land on the roof properly, he'd be able to run before any of the shinobi part of the group could catch him and he'd be able to get to the Hokage's tower. He was about to land on the building when he felt something wrapping around his ankle and pulled him down. Naruto felt part of his head split opened when it hit the ledge of the building, even then he brought his arms up fasted enough to catch the ledge of the roof and tried to hold on to it.

He felt the warm liquid from his head wound run down his face, he struggled against the binds on his leg to get over the ledge.

'Come on!' Naruto was steadily pulling himself over the ledge and was hopeful that he would make it. Suddenly he felt a strong tug on his ankle and all hope vanished as he fell down to the unforgiving earth.

His felt several bones break on impact. He tried to get up, but his body was unresponsive and he only felt more pain when he tried to move. All he was able to do was to stare up at the night sky, but even that was taken away from him when he felt someone's foot connect to the side of his head and forced it to turn away from the sky.

Naruto then heard someone start speaking to him

"Where do you think you were going, demon brat? You weren't thinking of running away from us are you? After all the naughty things you did, stealing all those good items. You need to be punished for all of that."

"Enough talking Gizo, help the other two put out the fire!" Naruto heard another voice bark out, but he knew that voice too well. It was the Inuzuka.

Naruto felt the Inuzuka's put his hands on his face to move his head. The beast like man made Naruto look him in the eye.

Dull eyes looked into feral ones, "Now, time to have some fun with the fox…" then Naruto's already broken body was then torn through. He felt every stab, cut, blow, punch, and kick, and the Inuzuka's dogs biting his legs.

Suddenly the blows stop coming and, for a brief moment, Naruto thought that the Hokage had found him. He felt two people pick him up by his arms; he wished he could move his head to see who was dragging him across the soil road. He felt himself being pulled up and placed against a wall, about four feet off the ground.

He then knew something was wrong when he felt clawed hands grip his face and force his head up, the Inuzuka was smiling at him with too much glee, "This next part…is going to be glorious for us!" he said.

That's when Naruto felt two kunia's embed themselves into his hands and the wall, nailing him to the wall. He screamed out, which was silenced by the Inuzuka punching him in the throat.

The Inuzuka then began to wildly punch and claw at him.

"You know, this kind of reminds me of my father's stories he told me as a pup…"

'What did I do to deserve such a life like this? I've done nothing to them and, yet, they treat me like I'm a monster! I have done nothing to them! I DO NOT DESERVE THIS!'

"Release me…"

"He would tell me how, when he was a pup, he had to earn his spot in the clan by going out to the forest, and hunting down an animal to bring back to the clan…"

'Who are you?' Naruto asked.

"I am the one that could help you…"

'Why help me?'

"Through you, I am born…"

"But before I could become of age, some omega ruined it for me by killing one of the Nara's deer, and it was discontinued…"

'What would you do?'

The Inuzuka stopped his onslaught, forced Naruto's head up and looked him in the eyes.

"I could protect you, take all the badness away, I could stop the pain…"

"I was so mad that I couldn't partake in the hunt…" the Inuzuka brought his clawed hand up in a striking position, "…but, I guess you can be my right of passage!"

"I COULD MAKE THEM PAY!"

Before the Inuzuka could swipe his claws across Naruto's jugular, Naruto ripped his hands from the embedded kunai's and pushed his feet off the wall. He knocked the Inuzuka down with his hands on the beast-man's throat.

Naruto raised both his hands in the air and the last sight that the Inuzuka saw was Naruto hair turn black, his eye's glow yellow, his teeth sharpen, and black wisp's of smoke coming off his body before the boy plunged his now claw fingers into the man's eye sockets.

Naruto repeatedly bashed the man's head into the ground numerous times. He quickly jerked his head towards the sound of a beast's growling. He saw the Inuzuka's dogs coming at him, he felt two cooling sensations on his shoulder blades and before he knew it, two serpents like creatures attacked the dogs. One impaled its self through the canines' head, while the other one threw the other towards the wall head first.

The serpents then shrunk down to twice the sizes of Naruto's arms, Naruto studied the snake-like appendages before he turned towards the villagers. They all looked at him in shock and fear.

"HE'S FINALLY SHOWN HIMSELF, RUN NOW BEFORE HE KILLS US ALL!" one of the villagers screamed.

The villagers tried to run out of the alley, but before any of them could make it out, a clone of Naruto with his demonic features and snake appendages appeared in all the exit ways.

"None of you…are going … to leave!"

All the clones and the original lunged at the villagers, who screamed out to the night.

No one made it out and the soil was forever stained with blood.

-(Elsewhere)-

"Hokage-sama, Hokage-sama!" a voice yelled out as someone pounded furiously on a door.

An elderly man woke from his slumber and lifted himself out of his bed and walk towards his door. He opened it up and saw his assistance Noroki staring at him with a worried face.

"Noroki? What has happened?" The elderly man asked.

"Sarutobi-sama s-s-something ha-has…"

"Speak child! What has happened that could have needed my attention at this hour of the night?" Sarutobi interrupted.

"It's Naruto, Hokage-sama! Something has happened!" Noriko yelled.

Sarutobis' eyes widen, "Where is he now?!" he demanded.

"He's at the Hospital…"

Before Noriko could blink Sarutobi was dressed and they were at the hospital

-(Naruto)-

Naruto sat in the hospital room with all the lights turned off and the moonlight shining through the window. His mind had been wondering back to the events that had happened not twenty minutes ago. He let out a chuckle when he remembered the reaction the ANBU had when they found him in the middle of the slaughter. They had put him in the hospital to make sure that any of the blood on him was not his and to see if he was mentally stable with killing the villagers. Personally he didn't feel any different after slaughtering those cattle.

"They deserved none of my kindness…" Naruto said.

Speaking of kindness brought Naruto back to the voice in his head and the two serpents that had saved him. He wondered how he could summon them again.

"Call for them….and they will appear…"

'The voice…' Naruto closed his eyes and tried to recall the image of the serpents, and then he called out for them.

Suddenly he felt two cold spots on his shoulder blades and when he opened his eyes he was staring at the two serpents. They hissed and swayed as they looked at him.

"Thank you…because of you I was able to survive." Naruto said.

"You need not thank me…Just give feed the hearts of your victims to the serpents and I will protect you…"

"Not to be rude, but who are you and why did you save me?" Naruto asked.

"Speak to me only in your mind child…."

'Okay…'

"To your ancestors, I was known as the Darkness…and I have been a part of your family for generations, but I have been suppressed for millenniums…only through your calling, was I able to become powerful enough to be released…"

'How were you suppressed?'

"One of my hosts was caught and imprisoned in Hell…"

'How did you get out?'

"My host was determined to get his love back…his…Jenny…He fought through the demons of Hell and broke out…he sought out the being that had possessed his Jenny and when they found each other…they fought…they both ended up sealing us away…"

'Why seal you away?'

"I was the reason he lost his…Jenny…"

'Oh…why did you…'

"That story…is for…later…."

'Oh, okay…what all can you do?'

"Many things that you are not ready for…you will train to gain my power…but for now you can settle on regeneration… strength…speed…stamina…and the help of the…serpents…that is all for now…"

The two serpents suddenly disappeared as the door opened. Naruto turned his head to see the Third Hokage and his secretary enter the room. He was suddenly brought into a hug when Noriko rushed at him.

"Naruto-kun…I was so worried. When I heard, I got the Hokage and rushed here as fast as I could. Are you alright?" She asked.

Naruto smiled and hugged the women back, "I'm fine nee-chan…"

Noriko just ran her fingers through his hear, and saw that it had changed its colors to black.

"What happened?" she asked.

Sarutobi cleared his throat, "Yes, Naruto I was hoping for an explanation as to what had happened."

Naruto suddenly became quiet and scooted away from Noriko. He brought his legs up to his chest and hugged them. "I was running to this empty apartment to hide from the villagers before they could find me…I thought I confused them long enough for me to get away free…but they found me….the Inuzuka found me. They set the building on fire and smoked me out. Then when they caught me…they beat, kicked, burnt, and stabbed me to a wall. They kept me from screaming, and then they let the Inuzuka claw at me! I wanted it to stop! I begged for someone to help me…but no one helped me, no one!" Naruto paused for a second and rested his head on his knees, "…and when no one helps you…something will…"

Sarutobi's eyes widened at the last sentence, 'Did the fox get to him?' "Naruto, what happened…what helped you…" he asked, having a sense of dread crawl through his entire body.

Naruto looked at the weathered Hokage with dull eyes, "Something far, far worst then the Nine Tails…" Sarutobi and Noriko felt the room temperature drop down and a sense of fear wash over them, no, it drowned them.

"…There is a new saying in Konoha, jiji, nee-chan…FeAr tHe DarKNesSSs…"
