This is just my version of the ending for Corpse Bride. I remember seeing this movie in theaters and being really ticked off by the ending. I didn't really like Victoria's character and obviously Emily was awesome! When I got home, I immediately went onto fanfiction to find stories that I just knew rewrote the ending. I was right and I've read most of them. This story is just a quick one shot, it's very similar to the many out there but I still just had to write it!
"You're cup will never empty," Emily paused seeing the pale face of Victoria behind the column in the church. "For I-," she stopped and swallowed. "For I will be..." her eyes shifted to something behind Victor before taking a deep breath. "I..." she cut off again.
"I will be your wine." Victor finished for her with a fond smile and as he was about to drink the poison, Emily stopped him. "What's wrong?" He asked worriedly.
She touched his cheek tenderly. "I can't, this is wrong." Tears escaped her eyes as she felt her dead heart break. "I was a bride once," she whispered. "And my dreams were taken from me, and now-now I've stolen it from someone else. I love you Victor; but you are not mine." Emily motioned and Victor turned to see Victoria.
Victor looked between the two women and down at the poison in his hands. "I'm sorry." Emily only smiled softly.
"It's alright," Victor raised a hand with a tender smile.
"I'm sorry Victoria." He said turning to the living woman beside him. "I do like you very much, but I'm afraid I've fallen in love with Emily." He leaned down and kissed Victoria on the forehead.
Emily stared in shock, her body not moving as Victor tilted the glass and drank the poison. "No!" Victoria and Emily shouted but it was too late.
Nothing happened for a few moments until Victor's eyes widened and he doubled over gasping for air. He fell to one knee, his arms wrapped around his thin waist, his shoulders hunched as he stopped moving. Emily let out a dry sob and slowly knelt beside him. She gently pulled on his arm and as Victor straightened the audience gasped as his skin was blue, blue as death.
"Victor what have you done?" Emily murmured. He stopped examining his hands to turn to her.
"What I meant to do." He said and lovingly cupped her face and kissed her. Tears ran like silver rivers down Emily's cheeks, illuminated in the blue moonlight.
Victoria stood there in silence, her mind near blank. Her large eyes looked up and saw the happiness between the two.
"I could never have given you so much happiness," she whispered. The two pulled away and looked at her. "So much happiness that she's given you." She smiled her eyes sad. She bowed and slowly left the church.
Victor and Emily looked back at each other and embraced. "Why did you choose me?" She whispered into the collar of his jacket.
Victory only smiled and kissed her blue hair. "Because you've given me something that I haven't felt in a very long time." Emily pulled away slightly in confusion. "All my life, I've never felt much other than what my parents wanted. You've given me my own thoughts." Emily raised a brow as Victor slapped his forehead. "No…I'm not making sense am I?"
Emily giggled. "No, not really; but I'm sure I'll understand soon enough." Victor gave a nervous chuckle. They both leaned in and kissed again, their cold lips matching the warmth in their un-beating hearts.
"I love you Emily."
Sooo there you go, I was looking through my flash drives, found this and ended up posting it! Ja Ne!
