Prologue

Annabeth P.O.V.

I sigh and twirl my feet around in the water. I can't stop thinking about Percy and about the time we had first found this secret hideaway. I close my eyes and let the memories flood into me…

"Come on Wise Girl you can walk faster than that can't you?" Percy asks me jokingly. I glare at him.

"Well it's not my fault that I keep slipping on these darn rocks, Seaweed Brain! I mean jeez does water have to make everything this slippery?"

"Here," he says reaching out a hand to me, "I'll help you."

I take his outstretched hand and the water is no longer soaking my feet, I can still feel is swirling and swishing around me, though it no longer soaks my skin.

We are walking through the stream that runs through the woods of Camp Half-Blood. We had finally after all this time been curious as to what lay at the end of it.

The trees part to reveal the stream's end. It flows smoothly into the small inlet section of the ocean. There are trees on every side but one giving the place complete privacy from the outside world and leaving a gorgeous view of the ocean.

"Wow." Percy breathes out.

The memory threatens to bring tears to my eyes, looking at the ocean doesn't help either. It reminds me of him and I can't take it. I haven't seen Percy since the middle of last summer when he left on a quest where I could not follow him. I wasn't even told what the quest was. He had barely had time to say goodbye and to tell me that he would be back soon before disappearing past Thalia's tree and into the mortal world. A place where I was not allowed to follow…
