A/N: I thought of this when I was browsing through the Final Fantasy VIII Section…
Shiva was always my favorite GF and I always paired her with Squall in the game. And now I want to write about the bond, from Shiva's point of view, which was between them. Review if you want =)

Shiva felt her master get up and opened her ice colored eyes. Ever since she had pledged her loyalty to him, she had felt at ease. Even if Ifrit was with his friend, Zell, she was alright with it. That fiery beast was as far away from her as possible.

Shiva felt her master get out of his bed, the bed he shared with the sorceress. Shiva stretched and considered that relationship. They were well matched, she considered. Shiva shrugged and started walking out toward his office. She sat on the floor and looked out the window. She did a lot of that these days. Ever since that final battle, she didn't fight that much. He was Commander of the SeeDs, so it was all that she could do to get him to practice with his friends. Shiva sighed.

She was content, though. For the first time in a thousand years, she wasn't rushing to please her master's every will. It was almost as if GFs were considered genies, which they were not. GFs were supposed to aid in battle, not bend to their master's will. Though, calling the humans "masters" was a little extreme. Not every GF considered their partner a "master." Shiva had seen enough in her time to realize that she had a very good human to serve in this lifetime.

The human came out and sighed as he looked at the paper work on his desk. It was ironic, Shiva thought, that he would stick with me all this time. It was as though we were the same personality. Not anymore, though… he changed throughout their journey. The girl that he had met had opened him up to a whole new world and he had accepted it with a lot of reluctance.

Shiva sighed and got up. She closed her eyes and felt Diablo enter the room. Shiva went over and they bowed to each other as her human's friend with the long blond hair gave him reports on the different aspects of her current mission.

"Ifrit is misbehaving," Diablo informed her. Shiva looked at him and nodded. Quetzalcoatl stood by Shiva and nodded. Shiva looked at him and sighed.

"We should have been there," she said. Quetzalcoatl shook his head.

"Our time will come when our master wants us to fight," Quetzalcoatl informed her. "Until then, go keep Ifrit in line… one of us has too." Shiva's icy laugh chilled the room, and she disappeared.

She would always come back to her master, but it was Quetzalcoatl who represented his loyalty. Quetzalcoatl was always the one who stayed by their master's side, through thick and thin. Shiva always wandered, and then came back. That was the way they were paired with the infamous Squall. They both made up two completely different sides of his personality.

Shiva saw the sea and smiled. She was going to go north for a while, until she heard that battle cry that she longed for.

"Shiva! I need you!" That was the one cry that Shiva would answer to. She never answered to the mutterings, to the whispered words of love to his lover or to the commands that he gave his friends. Even the quiet thoughts of doubts that he had every now and again, she never soothed them, for that was Quetzalcoatl's job.

Shiva represented a side that her master never showed to people. She showed his wild spirit, cold and yet determined to find its way in the world. Whether he knew about his wildness or not, Shiva represented it.

A/N: it's one of my shorter pieces, and I hope that you enjoyed it. I enjoyed writing it in about ten minutes…
Until next time,
