How quickly came the winter snow,
How quickly summer fled.
I remember days of warm sunshine and tall green grass,
Days of picnics and secret smiles.
Then winter came,
And took those things away.
The summer left on the wings of a hawk,
Never to return.
No longer do I hear your voice,
Calling to me over the snow.
To never feel the touch of your hand,
No worse torture can I imagine.
You glowed in the July sun,
With sweat upon your brow.
How happy you seemed on warm days,
Content in the humid nights.
How sweet you looked wrapped in silk,
Clinging to you in the heat.
How cold those same said sheets seem,
No longer pasted to your flesh.
Winter snow fell yesterday,
The sun chasing after your shadow.
Gravestone skies took away the blue,
And all eyes I see are black.
I hate the winter now,
Though it was once my favourite time of year.
Yet I dread the coming of the summer months,
For they were a time meant for you.
Death brought the Winter winds,
Brought snow down upon my brow.
Life left with summer in tow,
Your time is gone and I'm left cold.
~ A/N: I didn't set the chara's, because this poem could apply to any set of lovers, right? I had two people in mind, but I'd love to know who you thought of when you read this! R&R please! Feed the author! She's hungry!
~ Disclaimers: I have often been told, and firmly believe, that disclaimers are a waste of space. They are. Yet, here I do proclaim that I in no way own Harry Potter, nor any characters within. J. K. Rowling owns them.
