Ummm… I had some inspiration to write this tonight after reading Harry Potter fanfic all day, and then had a rush of Elizabeth and Jack. It's strange that I dislike reading about Will and Elizabeth once their married, but I love to write it. Anyways. I hope you enjoy! PS: Not betaed, still haven't had anyone answer my pleas for help!!!
Elizabeth threw open the windows to her bedroom and breathed in the early morning air. Dawn was just breaking, and the town of Port Royal was covered in a thick fog, but not so thick that she couldn't see the mouth of the port.
Her only specification on the house that Will Turner had insisted on surprising her with as a wedding gift, was that the bedroom have a clear view of the ships docked at port and the new ships sailing in. Will hadn't outright questioned this, but she knew he was aware of the reason she requested this specific detail.
Ever since she had returned to Port Royal, and especially ever since they had lived in this modest house, she had started her day off by opening her windows and looking out at the sea, always scanning the horizon for a black ship with black sails.
She became fully conscious of this action a week into her marriage. She had risen from the bed, thinking Will was still asleep, put on a dressing gown and had opened her windows. Her eyes quickly scanned the horizon, and after not seeing his ship, she had sighed and sat down on the sill, still starring out at the sea.
"What are you looking for?" Will's sleep heavy voice came from behind her.
"Nothing in particular." She had mumbled, but she knew he had heard her.
He had risen from the bed and was now standing behind her. She didn't have to look to know he was scowling. "Were you ever with him?"
"What?" She turned around and looked at him fully.
"Jack Sparrow-"
"Captain." She interrupted, but he continued as if he hadn't heard her. The only indication that he had was his frown grew deeper.
"Jack Sparrow, did you ever spend a night with him?"
"How dare you ask me a question like that." She turned around and looked out the window once again, and though she knew she should be angry she kept her voice neutral as if they were discussing curtains over dinner.
"I thought so." She could sense him turning, and heard him dressing.
He said from the door in a voice so harsh Elizabeth had to make a conscious effort not to wince, "He won't come back for you. He even said that he it would never work between you two. He is a pirate, he didn't ever care for you." He was silent for a moment but then turned and slammed the door behind him as he left the room.
Elizabeth closed her eyes and took a deep shuddering breath. She knew what Will said was true, and also that he had heard their conversation on the Pearl the day that they had left. But what hurt the most was that Will had hit the nail on the head, so to speak. He had known exactly what to say to Elizabeth to hurt her. He had said her worse fears aloud: That Jack Sparrow didn't care about her and he would never return to save her from this prison that was now her life.
