Meredith waddles around the room greeting people and thanking them for coming. Everyone from the hospital is there and even some of her friends who have left. Alex who took the job at Hopkins is here with his girlfriend of 6 months, Haley; he looks really happy, maybe even happier than when he was with Izzie. April was finally able to retake her boards and passed. She and Jackson decided to stay and work at Seattle Grace and have been dating ever since the plane crash; they're getting pretty serious and Jackson has even told Meredith about his plans to propose to April. Bailey is here with Ben; they married about 6 months after the crash and moved to where Ben's new job is. Ever since the crash Derek and Callie have become best friends. Derek was devastated when Mark died as was Callie so they leaned on each other to get through the rough times and ended up becoming quite fond of each other. Arizona still has trouble walking but with her weekly physical therapy she's improved quite a bit. Cristina decided that it was best for her to stay in Seattle with Meredith and try and work on her relationship with Owen; it hasn't been easy but slowly they are finding their way back to each other. Owen is at the hospital tonight and wasn't able to make it to the shower.

Meredith tries her hardest to put on a happy face but she can't help but feel sad that her younger sister isn't here to share in the joy with her. They found out yesterday that she's having a girl. Meredith and Derek decided to honor her little sister by naming their baby Lexie. Meredith sits down and places her hands on her growing belly. "Your aunt would have been so excited to meet you," she sighs. Cristina walks over and sees Meredith sitting on the staircase by herself. She already knows why her person is upset so she just sits down next to her and drapes her arm around her back. Cristina doesn't have to say anything and Meredith lays her head on Cristina's shoulder. Just having her there is good enough for Meredith. A few minutes later Derek comes down the stairs behind Meredith and Cristina with a very happy and well rested Zola. She sees Meredith and reaches out her chubby little arms; "Mama Mama," she squeals. Meredith laughs and stands up with the help of Cristina and takes Zola from Derek. She gently places a kiss on her little girl's forehead and holds her close. "I love you Zo Zo," she coos. The rest of the evening goes by pretty uneventful, Meredith and Derek open up presents while Zola sits with her favorite aunt (Aunt Cristina, or so Cristina claims is true). By the time everyone leaves it is almost 10. Zola has been sleeping in Cristina's lap the whole night. She carefully picks her up and brings her upstairs to her room where the walls are painted a pale yellow and there are butterflies hung all over the walls and ceiling. Cristina gently places the sleeping baby in her crib and kisses her on the head before heading downstairs. Meredith and Derek are sitting on the couch sleeping when she gets back down. She gently places a blanket on them and quietly makes her way out the door locking it behind her as she goes. She stops for a second to take a deep breath and miss the people who couldn't be there that night. She takes off to her house where she is greeted by the loneliness and falls asleep quickly.
