DEVOTION.
Hm hm. Ish loves count cain. Ish felt like writing another fic for it. Ish's count cain stories have been going on unread, this makes ish sad. But, I hope you like!
Riff was a servant of unquestionable loyalty. He never asked what didn't need to be sad. And he completed whatever was asked of him.
"If I do this, Riff, will you hate me?" Cain pressed himself against the older man. Riff shook his head, not looking down at the curious and playful gold eyes that were waiting to see his reaction.
Cain knew, as well as anyone, that Riff could never deny his master anything. Cain never needed to test him because even with quiet words and silent glances, Riff spoke volumes. Every act reflected just how loyal he was. And for most, that was enough.
But not for Cain.
"And if I do this, will you push me away?" He gently stroked the butler's cheek, leaning closer. Riff shook his head once more.
The man had to admit, he was used to his master's games. Though, most of the time, they didn't go so far, he was used to them. He had been with Cain long enough to know exactly what the boy wanted to hear. And that was simple.
It was his silent devotion.
"If I do this, will you tell me no?" he started unbuttoning Riff's jacket, and the servant shivered when the cool air reached his skin. He shook his head once more. Cain was watching him, waiting for his devotion to falter.
Tests like these had come in many forms. From trips into the wilderness together to a test on his favorite foods. Cain always wanted to ensure that he would be there. To ensure that whatever he wanted to hear was the truth.
He shook his head again, let young pale hands trace lines and patterns along his chest. Hands that shouldn't know how to do such things, hands that should still be innocent.
But it was hard to be innocent when that had been stripped away from him.
Cain's hands danced along his flesh, feeling and touching. Those hands were branding every bit of skin they could find with invisible marks. A hand danced up his back, fisted in his hair, and pulled him down.
Cain knew he would never say no. Cain knew that his devotion was one that was unquestionable. Cain knew that Riff would never leave him. He knew Riff had promised to be by his side forever.
But the need to test him was still strong.
"And if I do this," he pulled Riff down a little farther, stealing a kiss. "Will you love me?"
His silent devotion was one that was always true. "Yes, I will love you."
But sometimes it's better to let people know with words.
