She froze when she kissed her, although she'd been wondering for months what her lips against hers would taste like. She'd always liked the taste of her strawberry lip gloss when she'd borrowed it, but it tasted even better across her soft and supple mouth. Rahne's heartbeat hammered in her ears. She knew, from this moment on, she was going to have to choose, and she was scared. If she was a bad girl, Lady Moira may no longer love and care for her. She might even hand her over to that wretched Reverend.

But if she chose to be good, she would lose Dani. She would lose her friendship and these delightful, albeit wrong, feelings between them. She gazed into the Indian's dark, searching eyes and knew, in her heart, that she would never forgive herself if she made the wrong choice. Lady Moira was a wonderful mother figure, but she could never really understand her.

Dani, on the other hand, did understand her. She even understood her wolf, and Rahne had never felt better, with any one or by herself, than she did when Dani was with her. Dani blushed. Her eyes fell from hers, and Rahne knew she was hurting. She was hurting, because she hadn't kissed her back. As her lips started to move from hers, Rahne acted, making her choice, picking Dani over all others, forcing her fears to hush into the back of her mind, and accepting the love that Dani dared to offer.
