It may come as a surprise but before returning to Haven Duke had told himself there would be no one else - sure, there might be the one night here and there but for the most part he was still technically a married man and that meant something to him.

That was until he meet Audrey Parker. His life was simple before her. He'd had a good paying job that only consisted of a few rules. He liked rules, it made things easy. Never look inside the package, make sure it's delivered on time and most importantly to the right place, simple. So why was it that he seemed to be breaking every life rule he'd ever made.

It turns out all those years of knowing Nathan he never really knew the man as well as he thought.

Duke lies in bed with Audrey and Nathan pressed to his chest and there's no way he ever thought he'd find himself here of all places.

He remembers that day clearly, the day it all changed for the three of them.

He'd been working at the Grey Gull all day when Nathan came in, wearing his police jacket and scaring off a potential deal with what duke would describe as a man of many skills. He'd acquired the so called skilled mans help in looking into the tattooed person who would kill him in the future.

The thing about Duke was that he never was one for laying back and just taking the punches. If someone punched, Duke was punching back. He may have not had a perfect life back then, especially in Nathans eyes but it was his life and he'd worked damn hard to get where he was. In no way was he going down without a fight.

"Making dodge deals now, Duke?"

Nathan whispers as Duke clears his throat moving to pick up a few empty glasses left on a table as he walks behind the bar.

"It's none of your business, Nathan."

He says looking him in the eye as he makes a point to give him a stern look.

"Now, if you don't want a drink I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."

Looking to the only customers sat at a table he moves his eyes from Nathan to them.

"This isn't over, Duke."

Nathan says placing a hand on the bar before moving to leave.

"Duke?"

Nathan says stirring from his sleep as his eyes blink open looking up at the dark haired man with blue eyes as he moves up Dukes body now facing his face as he glances at where Audrey is still asleep on Dukes chest.

"What's wrong?"

He says now fully sitting up on the bed as his head rests on the head board.

"Nothing."

Is Dukes response as Nathan gives him a look that pleads for him to be honest.

The tanned man gives him a smile wanting to put him at ease.

"Reminiscing on the past."

Duke says as he brings an arm up around Audrey's shoulder.

Nathan moves in to give him a kiss as he moves back with a grin on his face before laying back on Dukes chest joining Audrey where she lays.

Duke sighs softly not wanting to wake up Audrey as he thinks that maybe braking rules was what really allowed him to live.
