One night after Ash had finished putting the kids to bed, he trotted downstairs and flipped on the TV. PTV was featuring a battle rerun from last week's Pokemon league competition. Alec and his Elekid versus Abby and her Dugtrio. Just as Dugtrio was about to use it's dig attack, the TV went off. Well, everything went off, the electricity went out. Ash hadn't noticed the weather, but now as he looked out, a huge flash of lightning greeted him. As soon as Ash had sussed up the situation, he heard Pikachu stir.
"Pikapi?" The small electric mouse questioned. Pikachu had experienced many blackouts before, and yet they always seemed to surprise him.
"It's ok Pikachu." Ash said. "It's just a blackout. As soon as I find the flashlight, I'm gonna bring the kids down here." He told Pikachu. Ash quickly found the flashlight, and headed upstairs.
As soon as he got upstairs, he heard a loud cry. He ran into Elizabeth's room and saw her frozen in her bed, squeezing her stuffed Teddiursa, Teddi. "Hey, settle down pumpkin." Ash said as he ran to the girl to hug her. She finally calmed down, and Ash slowly picked her up. "We're gonna go sleep downstairs with Pikachu, ok." He told the young girl, who was still shaking.
After waking up Misty, they headed downstairs as Ash released Charizard who started a fire in the fireplace. After laying around the fire for a while, only Elizabeth, Pikachu, and Mudkip were still awake. Elizabeth started to whimper as the fire started to go out. When it finally went out, Elizabeth had her eyes closed starting to cry silently. Pikachu's ears perked up as he ran over to her. This calmed the girl down only mildly.
"Kachu Pi?" Pkachu said the young girl. She lifted her head to the electric mouse, but only slightly.
"I'm so scared Pikachu. I hate the dark." Lizzie said as she sat up. She grabbed Teddi and Mudkip and hugged them close to her. Pikachu thought maybe he could wake Ash to settle her down. He then decided against it, Ash was a heavy sleeper, and it might take a thundershock to wake him. Pikachu was simply too tired. So Pikachu went to the kitchen and got a flashlight and a juice box. He brought them to Lizzie.
As the flashlight went on, Pikachu could hear a relieved sigh from the young girl. Pikachu handed her the juice box. When she finished the juice, she laid back on her sleeping bag placed by the tv. Just then, she thought of the stories her father told her about Joshua. He was a great warrior and the processor of Moses. Lizzie then remembered the verse. {Have I not commanded you? Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.}1
She laid silently and remembering she didn't need to be scared, she soon drifted off to sleep. As Ash got up the next morning, he found Lizzie, Mudkip, and Pikachu all wrapped in a big blanket.
He silently woke Pikachu and looked down at his seven year old daughter and her small Pokemon and smiled. He looked at Pikachu and said. "Isn't she cute Pikachu?" Pikachu nodded as the two headed out the door for work.
