Dedication: This story is dedicated to my friend, Anthony (London-Boy). I love you to the bottom of my heart. I miss you a lot too and I hope one day you stumble upon this story again. I hope that I can finally finish it and make you happy. I decided because you're so far away, it wasn't right for me to write about Frank Bluetwig. He is your character and only you can write him the way you want him to be. I have taken him out and George as well, for you own the rights to them (and Frank's grandmother). I'm sorry I never finished the story while you were around but I hope one day, you find it in the near future and fall in love with it all over again. I will never give up on you. If you call one day at 3AM and tell me you need me, I will be there. Don't forget that. I'm still as loony as you remember me. I wish you the best life. This story is for you, I have completed it in hopes Harry Potter can bring us together again. Thanks for being the best friend a girl could ask for. Lots of love, Ely. x

Letters to My Brown Eyed Beauty

Chapter One

Albus Potter looked up from the ground and his eyes met the same beautiful brown eyes that have plagued his mind every day since he was eleven. She often stared in his dreams, like a constant reminder of the one who got away. In every dream, she looks the same as she did that day in Diagon Alley. She had long, curly, platinum blonde hair and big, soft, brown eyes. She wore a red plaid skirt, a white button up short sleeved short and a black cardigan on top. Albus remembers what she was wearing almost like it was yesterday. The mysterious girl never ages in his dreams and he often wondered how more beautiful she could have gotten. The odds seem like they are always never in his favour when it comes to her. The girl never dropped her name and Albus fears he never will know it. His dreams consist of smiles and silence. Her smiles are radiant and reach her eyes. She is Albus' longest secret; His Brown Eyed Beauty. He has never told a soul of her existence and fears that if anybody were to ever know, they would never understand his fixation.

Albus' green eyes squint in the distance as a light tries to seep through their world. A voice in the distance he is unable to make out. The more he focuses on the voice, the blurrier the girl gets.

"Albus," the voice calls.

Albus shakes his head, wondering who that could be. It sounded like his mother, Ginny, calling him. He knew if he were to follow the voice, he'd lose this moment with the girl that plagues his dreams.

"Albus, dear?"

"Al?"

In that moment, Albus began to regain consciousness, pulling his head off the dining table. He is met with worried looks from his parents. "Albus, are you, all right?" Ginny asks, placing a plate of food in front of him.

"Yeah mum, I'm okay," he nods quickly, "I just, fell asleep. I guess I'm really tired." He clears his throat, taking a bite of his food. "Maybe you should get a good night's rest before school starts tomorrow," Ginny reminds her son, pouring him a glass of water. Albus nods to his mum and takes a good sip of his water. He then stands up, "I suppose you're right, mum," he answers her and then begins walking towards the stairs.

He doesn't get far as James runs through the kitchen, screaming his name. Ginny gives him an unimpressed look.

"Albus," James begins saying before Ginny cuts him off, "James, you know not to run in the house." Albus chuckled, "What's wrong, James?" His brother smirks, "Guess who's got a letter," he teases. Albus' heart begins to speed up, feeling the heat creep up on his neck and face. "Who's it from?" He casually asks, trying to play it cool. He swallows, feeling the pressure of everybody watching him. James laughs, "I don't know, why are you getting your wand in a twist for?"

"I'm not," Albus answers back rather quickly, attempting to cover up the redness in his cheeks. James looks down at the letter, smirking, "It says 'Green Eyed Boy'. Is that a pet name? I figured it couldn't have been for dad at all. So, my next bet is you. Does someone have a girlfriend?"

Albus snatches the letter out of his hand, shooing James away. "It's not like it's any of your business," he said, as the redness increased. "But I don't have a girlfriend," he stumbled over the last word, feeling like a complete idiot. "You're awfully sneaky, clearly you're hiding something," James insists, "But fine, I guess I'll leave you to it." James steps back, smirking.

Albus smiles at the familiar smell of roses.

'Dear Green Eyed Boy,

It seems a little silly that after all this time, we still don't know each other's names. But I guess that's the fun of this thing, the mystery of our separate lives. How has your summer been, Green? I know I haven't been writing as much this past summer, but it was because my mother and I visited an old relative. I wasn't allowed to do much, other than spend time with them. My relative is rather nosy, so I never attempted to write a letter in front of him. He loves to tease me for stuff and I figured he doesn't need to know everything that happens in my life. You, Green, are the one thing I am never forced to share. A friend that is all my own. My mother caught me writing a letter to you last time and she teased me enough as it was. She found it awfully 'romantic' that we correspond between letters every now and again. I reassured her that we are nothing more than friends.

Surely you know how annoying parents can get? Sometimes I wonder if I'm even related to my own mother. Mark my words, she is an embarrassment! I love her all the same though. How's your mother? Less motherly and less smothering?

Anyway, was your summer fun? I travelled to many places, captured a lot of beautiful pictures. I'll attach a polaroid I got of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Enjoy! Do as you will with it!

I'll be going away again this year, but I promise I'll find time to write. I haven't forgotten about you, Green. It's too much fun having a penpal!

Until next time, Green,

The Brown Eyed Girl.'

"Guess who has a girlfriend!" James begins screaming, after reading the letter in Albus' hand. James smirks, taking the letter of Albus and showing Lily. She begins giggling.

"Excuse me," Ginny asks, sternly. Harry puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder to calm her down. Albus groans, putting his head in his hands.

"You do realise girls your age only want to date you because of your father, right?" Ginny asks, looking directly at her son in a disapproving way. Albus sighs, "Yes I realise that, mum. I don't have a girlfriend though. If James was reading it correctly, he'd realise I simply have a pen pal," he struggles to explain to his mother, knowing she would never understand.

"You do. You guys have pet names for each other. If that's not a relationship, then clearly, I have no idea what they are," James fires back.

"You are delusional, James! I don't even know her real name, I've only met her once!" Albus responds, defensively.

Confusion plays on everybody's face as they wonder what's going on.

"We met at Diagon Alley when I was eleven, when we were getting my supplies for first year," Albus began telling his favourite story. He refused to tell anyone that though.

"Albus, we need to go get your books," Harry told his son, who nodded back. They both walked towards Flourish and Botts. They browsed for a little while before collected the books they needed. Albus had to persuade his dad to let hm carry them, even though they were both terrified of what Ginny would say. "I have to get one last thing for your mother, can you meet me in Madam Malkin's?"

Albus agreed with his dad and headed over to Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions to meet his mother. As Albus went to walk in, he abruptly fell over, rubbing his side where he landed on the ground. As he looked up to see who banged into him, assuming it was a parent. He was ready to apologise, only to be surprised that a girl was adjacent to him on the floor. He looked up and noticed that she had long, curly, platinum blonde hair that framed her face. He noticed her cute, little, button nose and the curve of her lips. His green eyes connected with her brown ones, and heat creeped up on his neck. They both quickly looked away, blushing.

"I'm sorry," he blurted out quickly, embarrassed. The girl was surrounded by many books, like the ones Albus had been holding as well. The girl quickly sat up and began picking up her books. Albus sat up as well, helping her book up her books. He reached over to pick up a book that vaguely looked like a Potions book (same edition to the one he had), and his hand accidentally touched hers. She looked up sharply, her eyes piercing through him.

In that moment, Albus knew she'd haunt him for the rest of his life.

"Would you like some help," he asked, timidly. He didn't mind if she disagreed, he'd help anyway. She scowled at him, but begrudgingly let him help her. He smiled a little, deciding to interject the silence. "What's your name," he asked, smiling up at her. She began to stand up, and he followed suit. She shook her head, confusing Albus. "If you don't tell me," he joked, "I'll just have to call you 'Brown Eyed Girl' for the rest of your life."

The girl shook her head again, almost a little frightened, before she lightly smiled.

"I should help you pick up your books as well," she offered. Albus declined politely, "Seeing as I broke your book, I'll go back to Flourish and Botts and buy you a new one." It was merely scratched a little, but he felt bad. "You can send it to me, I must be off," she answered quickly. Before he could ask where, she handed him a piece of paper, an address. It appeared to be a muggle address and Albus couldn't make it out. "I don't want my mother to know I broke a book," she sheepishly supplied the answer to a question he was yet to ask.

"Okay," he answered with a small smile, "So what's your name?"

The girl giggled and shook her head before preparing to leave.

"I was serious, if you don't tell me, I'll just have to address the letter to 'Brown Eyed Girl'," Albus joked again, this time a little uneasily. She smiled back, "I can live with that, Green Eyed Boy," she winked back before disappearing into the bustling crowd.

He was too busy staring on after the mysterious girl, he didn't even notice his mother joining him. "Come inside quickly, Al, so we can go get your robes," Ginny said as she went back inside the shop. Albus nodded before picking up his books. He noticed she'd left a book, one about magical creatures. He picked it up with a smile, knowing he would send this one off to her as well.

As he went inside the shop, he couldn't help but wonder if he'd be seeing her at Hogwarts later that year. All the while knowing that she was something special.

"Little did I know, though," Albus said, after telling the story, "She just liked Potions and Magical Creatures. She wasn't at Hogwarts. She never came," he added.

"Bad luck, brother," James smirked. Albus glared at him, "We don't all use our last name to exploit girls. She is merely a friend, accept that." Albus said, feeling a little down that she had even said they were friends in the letter.

That is all they were.

"Can I ask you something?" Lily said, looking at her two older brothers. Albus nodded.

"Why did you keep her a secret then, if she's just your 'friend?"

Albus went bright-red and couldn't get out of the room fast enough.

'Lily is too smart for a fourteen-year-old,' Albus thought to himself.
