A Christmas Eve (or Christmas depending on where you are) story for all
"One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in living room on Christmas Day." -Andy Rooney
"Mom! Mom! Wake up! It's Christmas!"
Beca groaned, pulling the blanket over her head. "Babe, go with him."
Chloe sat up in the bed and kissed her son on the forehead, "You excited Holden?"
The boy nodded; his blue eyes wide. "C'mon, Santa left me presents!"
"Beca, get up," Chloe said, ducking her head under the covers, kissing the brunettes neck.
"I'm tired," she moaned.
"Yeah, me too. We can take a nap later, c'mon."
Beca sighed and got out of bed, taking the three year old off the bed and throwing him over her shoulder. The three of them went down into the living room and sat on the floor next to the Christmas tree.
"It looks like Santa left you a lot Holden," Beca smiled.
"I was a good boy this year Mommy," the boy smiled.
"Yes you were," Chloe laughed.
Beca leaned against the couch and pulled Chloe into her side, kissing her on the cheek.
"You want coffee?" the redhead asked.
"Please," Beca smiled, Chloe standing up. "Thank you."
"No problem, Holden before you open your presents, do you want hot chocolate?"
"Yes please."
Chloe walked away, entering the kitchen. Beca smiled at the boy sitting in front of her.
"Okay, let's guess what's inside," she smiled.
Holden nodded, "Which one first?"
"The big one. What do you think is inside?"
The boy took the box and slightly shook it next to his ear. He hesitated for a moment then shrugged, "I dunno, this is hard."
Beca laughed, "How about the little one right there?" she asked pointing.
The box was about the size of the child's hand. He picked it up and tried to feel under the wrapping paper. Chloe walked back into the living room with two mugs in her hand, one with hot chocolate and one with coffee. She handed them to Beca and Holden and raised an eyebrow.
"Were you two trying to guess again?"
"No," they said simultaneously, the same smirk on their faces.
Chloe shook her head and went back into the kitchen, returning with her mug. She sat back down, snuggled in Beca's side.
"Okay, you can open them now."
A wide smile appeared on the boy's face, as he started ripping the paper off the first box. Of course, he went for the biggest box first.
"A drum set! Mom look!" he smiled.
"Wow, that's so cool!" Beca chuckled.
"Come on, keep going," Chloe said.
Holden took the rest of the boxes by storm, Beca and Chloe watching him get excited over everything he opened. Beca crawled under the tree and pulled out a silver box, handing it to Chloe.
"Merry Christmas," she smiled.
Chloe smiled and opened the box to reveal a necklace with two hearts and a treble clef. "Oh my god, babe. It's beautiful. Thank you," she said, leaning in and giving Beca a kiss. "I got you something too; it's the blue box next to the nativity set."
Beca shook her head with a laugh and went to grab the box. It was pretty big; she was excited to find out what was inside. She ripped the paper off and smiled at the box. It was a stereo system with an iPod dock.
"Thank you Chlo! I love it," she smiled, wrapping her arms around the redhead.
Chloe leaned back into Beca. Beca kissed the side of Chloe's head and looked around. Wrapping paper was thrown all over the floor.
"Wow, this is such a mess."
"But it's one of the best kinds of messes," Chloe smiled.
Beca nodded, "You're right. I love you Chlo, Merry Christmas."
"I love you too," the redhead smiled, sipping her coffee and watching their son finish opening his presents.
Happy Holidays everyone!
