BONES:

THE RIVER AND THE HIGHWAY…

DISCLAIMER: Both the song of The River and the Highway

belongs to Pam Tillis and Bones do not belong to me.

Summary: Brennan and Booth follow different paths. This takes place during the year they are apart.

She follows the path of least resistance,

She dosen't care to see the mountain top,

She twist and turns with no regard to distance,

She never comes to a stop

And she rolls, she's a river

Where she goes time will tell

Heaven knows, he can't go with her

And she rolls, all by herself

All by herself

After a long day checked her e-mail to see if there was anything for Booth, she wanted to call him or hoped he would write her.

The days were long and hard, it was even harder then she expected not being able to see him every day.

He's headed for a single destionation

He doesn't care what's standing in his path

He's a line between two points of seperation

He ends just where it says to on the map

And he rolls, he's a highway

Where he goes, time will tell

Heaven knows, she can't go with him

And he rolls, all by himself

All by himself

Booth lay exhausted from the day. Before he went to sleep he decided to send Bones an e-mail.

He had told her he loved her a few months ago and she had shot him down.

So all he could do was let it go for now, but he wouldn't give up praying that she would give them a chance. Maybe someday, they had worked together for five or six years now.

He sent the e-mail and went to sleep. Countless times he had offered her, his shoulder.

And every now and then, he offers her his shoulder

And every now and then, she overflows

And every now and then, a bridge crosses over

It's a moment every lover knows

And she rolls (and he rolls)

She's a river (he's a highway)

Where she goes (where he goes)

Time will tell (she a highway)

Heaven knows she can't go with him (he can't go with her)

And she rolls, all by herself

And he rolls, all by himself

Brennan opened her e-mail and saw one from Booth.

Hey Bones,

Hope everything is all right with you. I miss you, Bones and think about you every day.

I know it's been a while since I last wrote, but I've been busy. I know you're either busy or tired, so I won't make this too long.

I just thought I would send you an e-mail to let you know that I'm all right and see how you're doing.

I better go for now.

Booth

Brennan decided to send him a short e-mail before going to bed.

Booth,

Thank you for the e-mail, I am glad to hear from you. I miss you to and have had you on my mind to.

Everything is going well here. I'm still getting used to not seeing you every day. I'm tired and need to get to bed.

I will write again soon.

Bones

THE END
