A/N: Hey guys! This is my first supernatural fanfiction so please be nice, i'm not exactly used to writing these types of stories.
Sam Winchester awoke with a start, sweating and dazed. The thirty-one-year-old had no idea what woke him, besides the fact that each of his dreams had a three or four-year-old little girl in them, and in each one there was a demon that was after her.
"Dean? What time is it?" He asked his older brother, who sat at the table looking through their fathers journal.
"We have a case; a young woman's house burned down and her charred remains, from what it looks like, her heart had been ripped out." Dean answered, not looking up from the journal.
"So we're FBI? Going to the morgue?"
"What the hell do you think?" Dean asked, throwing Sam's suit and tie at him.
Sam said nothing and got dressed, growing tired of his brothers attitude and his games, but never said anything about it.
"What do you think? Shape shifter? Vampire?" He asked, looking over the file.
"Right now it sounds like neither, but only time will tell, Sammy." Dean answered, and they drove the rest of the way in silence.
The two brothers arrived at the nurses station, only for Sam's heart to skip a beat at the sight of a familiar looking twenty-eight-year-old woman sitting at the desk, her pale blonde hair pulled into a tight braid down her back.
"Sam and Dean Winchester. What brings you back to Michigan?" The woman asked, her bright blue eyes boring into Sam's green ones. Sitting next to her was a little girl, no older than three, with chocolate brown hair and dark green eyes, that Sam thought could look into his soul and could have sworn he was looking at a carbon copy of himself.
The same little girl from his dreams.
"Shaelyn? How are you doing? It's been a really long time." Sam said, trying to ignore the odd looks that the child was sending his way.
Shaelyn smiled, "Yeah, it's been about four years. How's the supernatural hunting going?" She asked, her similar devil's trap tattoo almost glinting in the bright, fluorescent, hospital lights.
"We're here to_" Dean said, trying to change the subject, only for Shaelyn to cut him off.
"Take a look at the body that was brought in this morning?"
Before either of them could say a word, she got up, turning to the child who had now taken her attention away from Sam and focused on coloring.
"Daniella, stay here." She ordered, turning on her heel and heading down the hall, beckoning for the two hunters to follow, leading them all the way to the morgue.
"Why is it so cold down here?" Sam asked, a shiver running down his spine as they entered the dark room.
"Well, we have to keep the bodies from decomposing until the families can pick up the bodies," She started, uncovering the womans charred remains, holes clearly visible from where the heart had been ripped out, "The young woman was twenty-four-years-old with a six month old son and a six-year-old daughter. Her daughter found her, and from what she says; her mother had a gash through the abdomen and had been pinned to the ceiling . That's the third time this month."
"We had reports that her heart had been ripped out." Dean said, clasping his hands in front of him.
"Just about, from the looks of it, her heart had nearly been melted by some type of heat."
The brothers exchanged worried glances.
"Demon."
Upon hearing this, Shaelyn turned around, her blue eyes wide with fear.
"Sam, I need to speak with you in the hall."
The thirty-one-year-old nodded and left with Shaelyn, who closed the door tightly behind them, allowing for Dean to take a closer examination of the body.
Sam sighed.
Yes, he still had feelings for Shae.
Yes, she had dumped him over text and never spoke to him again, but he didn't hate her.
"Last night, a demon paid me a visit_"
Sam cut her off, "don't tell me you made a deal with it?"
"I made one with Azazel over four years ago. The last time he visited was when she was six months old, shortly before his death. I was lucky to escape with my life. He, the demon, said if I didn't give her up, more people would be hurt and i'd be hurt and he'd take her by force, and that he wouldn't want a pretty little thing like me to be hurt." Shaelyn explained, crossing her arms in front of her.
"Yeah, that's what demons do. Azazel made a similar deal with my Mom...who is she exactly?"
Just then, the same little girl from earlier ran up and hugged Shaelyn's leg.
"Mama! I gots lonely." She said, prompting for the woman to pick her up.
Shaelyn sighed, "Sam, this is Daniella, you're daughter."
