These two ficlets were entries for two separate Iron Chef challenges in the past. I don't own any of these characters; I'm just borrowing them.
"The Feminine Mystik"
by Kristen Bealer
Daria opened the door to see Jane, as she'd expected. She had not, however,
been expecting to see Trent standing next to her. The warm feeling creeping up
from her neck told her that she was blushing very conspicuously.
"Hey Daria," Jane began quickly as she dragged her brother
inside. "Trent needs to ask you a favor."
Her face grew even warmer as Trent looked at her sheepishly. "I need
to borrow some clothes," he mumbled.
Daria frowned. I didn't hear that right. "You need what?"
Jane burst out laughing, and the shade of red on Trent's face exceeded
Daria's. "It's not my fault," he sullenly explained. "I'm not
the idiot who can't read a contest form properly."
"Still not understanding," Daria prompted Jane.
Jane composed herself and started talking. "Mystik Spiral signed
up--"
"Jesse signed us up," Trent interrupted.
"Right, anyway, they're signed up for a sort of Battle of the Bands
for this weekend, and it turns out it's a contest for all-girl bands only. It's
too late to cancel now, so Trent needs some help to, um, dress the part."
"And what's wrong with your clothes?" Daria asked.
"Short shorts," she replied. "Trent tried on one of my
outfits and, well, it wasn't pretty."
Daria managed to block that image from her thoughts and looked at Trent.
"Why my clothes?" she asked.
"Looks kind of alternative," he said, rubbing the back of his
head.
"Plus, Trent's got no boobs, and your jacket will hide that
nicely." Jane laughed at the bright red faces staring at her.
"All right," said Daria. "But the glasses are part of the
package."
