Disclaimers: Unfortunately, I do not own any of the Phantom characters.
I hope you like this, for it is my first fanfic. Ever, yo! Woohoo! Well, I hope y'all like it.
Christine's eyes filled with tears as the Phantom, her Angel, sang to her in his deep clear voice. She had to chose: either Raoul, her childhood sweetheart, of the Phantom, her teacher, her mentor, and the man who gave her her voice..
"You try my patience," the Phantom whispered, desperation flashing in his eyes. "Make your choice." Christine's eyes darted from Raoul to the Phantom and back to Raoul. She then realized that, even though she loved Raoul, her heart belonged to her Angel of Music. It always had and it always would.
Hot tears slid down her cheeks as she mouthed "I love you." to Raoul. She then looked into the Phantom's enchanting green eyes and stepped into the water.
"Pitiful creature of darkness," her beautiful voice sang, "what kind of life have you known? God give me courage to show you, you are not alone." She was now directly in front of the Phantom. Surprise flickered in his eyes as she placed her hands on his shoulders and pressed her lips to his. He was stiff with shock at first, but then he gave in to the desire running through his veins. She pulled away and looked into his eyes, a slight smile across her lips. He pulled her back.
Their kiss was long and passionate, both of their pent-up emotions pouring out in that one moment. When they finally stopped, he wrapped his strong arms around her and pressed her against him. Her hands slipped around his waist and her head rested on his hard chest. She sighed at the sound of his heartbeat.
He placed his chin on her head and closed his eyes, trying to fight sudden tears of joy. He tangled his fingers in her dark brown curls. "Christine..." he whispered against her hair. "Christine..." her arms tightened around his torso. It was then that he realized the rope was still in his hands.
Her Angel slowly pulled away from her. He gently caressed her cheek and placed a soft kiss on her lips. He turned to Raoul.
"You are free to go." The Phantom pulled the noose from around Raoul's neck and untied him from the gate. Raoul fell into the water and stared at Christine. The Phantom moved in front of Raoul, obstucting his view. The Phantom's grip around the rope tightened, his glare piercing.
"I said, 'You are free to go,'" he ground out. When Raoul still didn't move, the Phantom stepped towards him. "Go now! Go now and leave us!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. Raoul's eyes were wide now, staring once more at Christine. He then nodded his head and turned to leave. Once he was out of sight, the Phantom pulled the lever that closed the gate. He turned so that he could see Christine. Even in the ruined wet wedding dress, her beauty radiated proudly from her body. The Phantom smiled and held out his hand.
Christine took the hint and walked to her new love. When she took his hand, the Phantom yanked her to him and kissed her. He then pulled away and led her to the back room. The music box was playing quietly.
"Masquerade," he sang softly, "paper faces on parade. Masquerade; hide your face so the world will never find you..." he turned his gaze from the music box to Christine, pulling her into an embrace. He looked into her eyes and sang, "Christine, I love you."
A small smile crossed Christine's lips. She now knew that she could finally be happy, for she was with her Angel, her Phantom, her love. She sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder, melting into his warm strong arms.
