Friendship, earrings, and great adventure
For my extraordinary friend who gave me an amazing gift at the beginning of my great adventure. For my Luna, yours Hermione.
'Hermione! Hermione!' I heard a loud voice calling me while I was going back from the library to my common room, holding a big pile of books in my arms. As always, I didn't know when I will have time to read them all. I turned around to see one of my best friends running to meet me.
'Oh, Luna! Hi!' I said.
'Hermione!' she panted 'I wanted to catch you after the dinner but I couldn't find you anywhere in the Great Hall'
'Oh, I missed the dinner' I answered quietly 'I got stuck in the library on my essay to prof. Snape and I forgot about eating' I smiled.
'Hermione that's second time in last two weeks! And potions again? You was writing an essay for him two days ago but yesterday you said that you finished.' said Luna, looking closely at me.
'That's the next one.' I sighed 'I have a lot to do recently' I caught a book that wanted to fall on the floor.
'Ok… But they are not regular class essays, are they?' she asked 'Even our mysterious potion Master isn't so demanding to give us two assignments in one week.'
'No you are right, that's something extra. But do not tell anyone' I looked around me to see, if anyone was listening 'I am going to start this extra course, and Snape and McGonagall are preparing me…It might be useful for the Order. And it's great fun!' I was really excited.
'What? Wait, what course?' asked Luna utterly surprised.
'Well…I call it a course but is more like an extra classes to be exact. Now they want to teach me basics, and a real work will start next semester. I am going to be taught by best wizards and witches in the field.' I nearly jumped thinking about it. 'McGonagall and Snape will be taking me to their own Masters throughout the semester. We will be using Floo, so I will be away only for few days every month not to miss classes here.'
'That sounds amazing! Congratulations, Hermione!' Luna was really happy for me.
'It means extra work too but I am so glad! It was McGonagall's idea. Next year is going to be incredible…'
It was a beginning of the new year. I was eating my breakfast in the Great Hall. I looked on the Teacher's Table. Hagrid was chatting with Dumbledore, and prof. Hooch was explaining something to Madam Pomfrey rather energetically. I looked at the left end of the table and then I froze. McGonagall was looking at me, smiling. Snape on the other hand was trying not to look too cheerful. He had his reputation to maintain, obviously. I knew that looks. I saw them few times before. It only meant good fun for me and… an extra assignment. After a while I felt that someone sat on my left side.
'Luna! How nice to see you! Why are you not sitting with other Ravenclaws?' I asked, happy to see my friend.
'I finished eating. Besides, I have something for you' she handed me a pair of beautiful earrings in the shape of dirigible plums with a small card attached to them. 'Oh my… Luna, they are wonderful! Thank you!' I hugged my friend
'Read the card.' she said.
'For the most extraordinary semester. Dirigible plums to help you accept extraordinary things around you.'
'For your great adventure this year' she said with a spark in her eyes.
Indeed, it was a wonderful time. But that's a long story…
