Coming Home (Ant Man)

Hey everyone! Here's a new story. I wrote this right after I saw the movie for the first time, and only just found it sitting on my computer so I polished it up and decided to post it.

This is my first Marvel fanfic. Hope you enjoy it

Hope had spent many years after her mother's death thinking that her father didn't care about her, that he was shutting her out. She didn't believe that her mother died in a plane crash. She had believed it when she was a child, but as she grew older she realized that her father wasn't telling her what had really happened. It hurt her more than she cared to show, but she hid it, and tried to act as if she didn't care. She buried her pain beneath her cold hard walls, and pushed her father away completely.

.

.

but now she knew the truth- her mother was a hero. She had died to protect countless innocent lives, and her father had spent the rest of his life trying to get her back. He had refused to let her wear the suit- not because he didn't trust her, but because he was trying to protect her, trying to make sure that there was no chance that he would lose her too.

All of a sudden her anger and resentment were gone. All she felt was the pain of losing her mother as fresh as the day it had happened.

.

.

She felt her heart stop when she saw her father falling to the ground, a bullet in his shoulder. "Dad!" she cried out, absolutely terrified, as she ran to his side. She couldn't lose the only family she had left

.

.

Only later, when she looked back at that moment, did she realise what she had called him

Dad.

She had called him dad for the first time since she was seven years old

.

.

So when her father showed her the suit and said that it was for her, she did something that she had refused to let herself do for a long time. She reached out and hugged him.

She held on tight, not wanting to let go. It would take time for her walls to come down completely, for her to learn how to trust again. But in that moment, she realized something. She had finally found her family again. She had finally come home.
