Dean totally means to make his first date with Cas something special. He's thought about it over and over. Numerous situations. Numerous outcomes. Numerous places and settings. Sometimes they're secluded, alone. Other times its a double date with Jo and Ash cause they're noisy like that. Sometimes they're just in the Impala on a drive, destination unknown. Until they park and just stare at the stars.

The point is he's thought about this, over and over and over. None are what ends up happening. Yeah, they're finally dating. Which is awesome! The date though, not what he wants it to be.

Sam's class is having a field trip, so Dean has to give him the money so he can go. Then he loses a school book, so he has to pay for that.

Slowly reality sets in, and the only money he has...can buy them a fast food dinner.

He doesn't even have enough for a movie afterward. Part of him wants to post pone the date. Until he has the money to give Cas the date he truely deserves.

But it's taken them so long to get to this point. To where Cas actually likes him back. And Dean's sure that if he does that, Cas will read too much into it, and then Cas will pull away. That's the last thing Dean wants.

So he pulls up in the McDonald's parking lot.

"Okay, we're here." Dean says, a little unsure, but this is the only place they can both eat and he still has money for gas. His baby's his baby, but she's not the best with gas milage.

Dean's scared to look at Cas.

"Look Cas. I know this isn't like, the best first date, but money's tight and I didn't want to post pone this cause I really like you and even though you deserve a better first date then...this. This is all I can afford." Dean said explaning himself since he hasn't heard Cas get out yet, he waits a while. Still silence.

"I knew it, you didn't want to actually come here. Or maybe you didn't even want to date me. Hell knows why you agreed to this. Maybe you felt sorry for me or something." Dean said exasperated. He sighs and still doesn't hear anything. He's even more scared to look at the man next to him now that he said all this. "Damnit Cas! Why don't you-" he looked at his passenger this time.

Next to him, in the passenger seat, Cas is asleep. Then he realizes Cas was talking all day about being really tired from a term paper. And figures he probably fell asleep at some point during the drive.

Dean chuckles to himself, then shakes Cas awake.

"Cas. Cas we're here." Dean says softly, shaking Cas with a small smile on his lips.

Cas hums and cracks his eyes a little waking up. "Wha?"

"Hope you aren't too tired to eat." Dean said smiling fondly at Cas.

Then Cas sits straight up. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep Dean."

"It's no problem. Hungry?" Dean asked, pointing to the place they stopped at.

"Starving and I've been craving their honey mustard sauce and chicken nuggets." Cas says with a smile as he gets out of the Impala.

Dean smiles as he follows Cas out.

And the way the date went was a great first one. Dean wouldn't trade it for any of his thought up ones.

So this was a quick drabble I wrote on my phone while I was in a Mickey D's (McDonald's.)
