A/N: This is currently a one shot that may turn into a longer story or collection of one shots. Let me know if you think I should continue. Also, it has not been mentioned when Eddie's birthday is, for this particular story it will be April 1, or April Fool's Day.

Sergeant Jamie Reagan stood at the podium before his officers in the roll call room. He and Eddie agreed that it was time they tell everyone. Captain Espinosa was there in case anything serious went down. Eddie was trying to act normal, but her partner saw right through her.

"Officer Janko, join me, would you?" Jamie asked, and she stepped on to the makeshift stage.

"Okay, for those of you who were not at the 1-2 with us, there is something we would like you to know. Officer Janko, Eddie and I are engaged. We have been since before either of us transferred in and I can also assure you that her transfer was handled above my pay grade. I f you have a problem with this bring to my attention or to the Captain's as we are the only two who can do anything about it." Jamie stated sternly at first and got soft before becoming stern again to make sure they understood that he wasn't suggesting something but was instead ordering it. They all took it surprisingly well, except for Maya who left and went out to the breakroom. Jamie went to get her, but Eddie stopped him. When they locked eyes, he knew she could handle it and preferred to be the one to talk to her.

"Maya…" Maya turned and looked at her and stayed silent, so she continued.

"I wanted to tell you, I did but Jamie and I weren't ready to go public. I am sorry for demanding an apology and lying to you and everything, truly sorry. And no, I don't hate you for bitching about him to me. Trust me, he was my training officer and partner for five years, I know he can be a pain in the ass, but can't we all? I am not using him to climb the ladder, we fell in love a long time ago but denied ourselves a relationship together because we only truly trusted each other to have our backs and because we loved riding together. Yes, I trust you just the same and I really love riding with you too. Are we good? Do we need to talk more about this? If you want a new partner, I understand, but I hope you don't." Jamie had made his way into the hallway between the two rooms and heard every word. He knew Eddie meant it all.

"I don't want a new partner. Can we just agree to not keep any big secrets like that anymore?" Maya finally replied with a small smile. Eddie nodded and closed the distance between them before hugging her partner and walking back into their places in roll call.

"You two all good?" Jamie asked. They nodded. Jamie briefed them as usual and dismissed them for their shifts. Eddie and Maya got in the car and drove to their favorite coffee cart before buying their first cup of the day. It was going to be a long shift.

"Hey Maya, you should come over to our place sometime. Jamie will be Jamie and not Sarge, I mean if you want. I think it would be fun." Eddie smiled.

"I would love to. I agree, I think it would be fun too." Maya agreed. She could tell Eddie was still walking on eggshells around her, because of a simple lie.

"Janko, you did what you did because you wanted to protect him, mostly, I'm sure. I get it and we're good." She smiled. Eddie nodded.

"He had some sense in partnering us. Riding with you is a lot like riding with him, minus the falling in love part." Eddie chuckled. Maya smiled as they got into the car and asked her about how them as partners.

"Okay, don't tell him but I'm still kind of mad about this, he missed my wet down, on purpose. Just because our Sarge called him out on romantic feelings, which he lied about not having and he was scared to let any of that show that night." Eddie replied.

"He didn't." Maya replied.

"Oh he did. This is after our first kiss, we were drunk and brushed it off like it was nothing to either of us but truthfully, we both meant it. We should've stopped being partners right then and there, oh by the way that was only about six months into my probie year. Back in November was two years since we kissed again, and both admitted feelings for the other. And still it took me being shot in the vest and then a month later him almost being killed for us to get our heads out of our asses. That happened on a Friday right and on Sunday morning he skipped church, which is a big no no in the Reagan household and took me mini-golfing so that he could propose to me."

"How did you tell his family? Was it intimidating for you? Oh, I heard they all have a family dinner every Sunday, is it true?" Eddie nodded.

"We walked into family dinner late that day and told them right off the bat, and of course it was intimidating, I mean with the sitting Commissioner and the former Commissioner at the same dinner table, for the first time, was terrifying. But deep down, they're both big teddy bears." She replied and Maya smiled at the smile and glow on Eddie's face as she continued to talk about Jamie and her future in-laws.

"You are so smitten Eddie. It is all over your face." Eddie nodded in agreement as she continued to drive around their assigned sector.

"I am and I can't deny it. I knew not long after I met him that we were meant to be. We both did, I think. We just had to stop denying it and dragging our heels." Maya nodded.

"I can see how much you love each other by the way you look out for each other and at each other. Seriously, I don't think him making you ride with him because of the pranks would have been a punishment for you or for him. Even though it was you the whole time and you dragged me and Tuna into it. I still can't believe he didn't know it was you." Maya laughed.

"I know. I can't help being a prankster though. I was destined to be one." When Maya looked at her confused, she continued.

"I was born on April Fool's Day." Maya chuckled.

"Well, then it must be inevitable." Eddie laughed and nodded.

"Exactly." She replied.
