Garnet stepped up on the warp pad, ready to tackle a new mission. She stared ahead as she was beamed out, and couldn't help but wrinkle her brow in confusion when the light of the warp pad died and she took in her new location. She was surrounded by a forest, a forest she'd never seen before, and she was quite certain she hadn't meant to come HERE. Wherever here was. She could find nothing out of place as she looked around, into the trees and foliage, and was just about to step back onto the warp pad to go back to the temple when she felt something ping off the back of her head.
She turned around, and stared in confusion once more at a small group of children standing several feet in front of her. Then she looked toward the ground, at the object that had bounced off her head. She bent to retrieve it and take a closer look. It was red and white, and fit easily in the palm of her hand, where it clicked against the deep red gem nestled there. She pressed the button on the front and watched as it shrank to half its previous size. This was certainly no gem, though beyond that bit of information, she couldn't identity it further. She looked up at the children, thinking to ask them, only to find them gaping at her, eyes wide and mouths hanging open. The one in front, with a yellow mouse thing on his shoulder, scrambled to pull out a red device from his pocket that he pointed it in her direction as he pressed a button. She watched him become visibly excited as he listened to its robotic voice.
"Alright! I found a Pokemon so rare it's not even in the Pokedex!" She watched him pull out another red and white sphere and enlarge it. He threw it at her with all the strength in his small body, determined to not let this prize escape him. He gaped again as he watched her catch his Pokeball in mid air, and shrink it again. He'd watched Pokemon break out of Pokeballs, he'd even watched Pokemon bat them away, but he'd never seen one do that.
"Wha-w-what kinda Pokemon are you..."
"I am not a Pokemon."
With that she turned and stepped back up on the warp pad. The shocked faces of the three children, and that mouse thing were the last she saw of whatever world she'd accidentally come too before the bright beam of the warp pad swallowed her and transported her back to the temple. She was greeted by another small boy landing on her head as he leapt from the rafters.
"GARNEEET! You're back! How'd it go?"
"Steven! I missed you. What's a Pokemon?"
Author's Note: Ah, my very first fanfiction. I'm nervous. This was the result of a very strange dream I had, so I figured, why not put it on the internet?
