Princess and the Dragon, not the Frog
Once upon a time, princess Lucy Heartfilia was walking down the streets of Mongolia reading one of her favorite books when a theft grabbed it from her hands. "Hey, give that back," Lucy yelled as she chased after the theft.
"Sorry, sweet heart, it's mine now," the theft yelled as Lucy chased the theft into the forest.
"No, that book was from my mom, please give it back to me," Lucy begged but the theft laughed.
"You must really want that book back," someone said and Lucy stopped in her tracks and she looked around to see who spoke.
"Who said that," Lucy asked as she looked around.
"I did," the voice replied and a three foot dragon with pink scales, yellow skin, and light pink wings.
(Author's note: the dragon is the dragon you see on the cover you see on the cover.)
"A dragon," Lucy said and the dragon nodded.
"Yep," the dragon replied.
"But Dragons don't talk," Lucy commented and the Dragon smiled.
"Thats because I'm actually a prince," the dragon replied and Lucy's lower jaw dropped, "Anyways, I could get your book, but you'll have to help me to change back to my human form in return."
"Deal," Lucy said then the Dragon flew after the thefts.
"HEY YOU," the dragon said to the theft, "Drop the book and I won't burn your ass to a crisp!"
"Hell no," the theft replied as he kept running.
"Alright, but you asked for it," the dragon said then he roared flames at the theft's butt.
"OUCH," the theft yelled and he dropped the book and fell to the ground and rolled around to try to put the fire out.
"Thanks," the dragon said as he swooped down and took the book. Then he flew back to princess Lucy with the book in his claws and a face on his face.
"You got my book," Lucy cheered, her eyes sparkled and her smile shined like the stars, "Thank You!"
"You're welcome," the dragon replied, "By the way, my name is Natsu Dragneel."
"I'm Lucy Heartfilia," Lucy said, "Its nice to meet you."
"Same to you, Luigi," Natsu responded and Lucy got angry.
"It's Lucy," Lucy said with a huffed.
"Right, Lucy," Natsu spoke, "Is it okay if I call you, Luce."
Lucy was taken back by the nickname because never in her life had anyone gave her a nickname. "Sure," Lucy replied with a smile, "Now, how do I help you change back to a human?"
Natsu smiled, even though he just met Lucy, he already liked her because she was nice to him and didn't run away like the other princesses did when he tried to ask for help. "Well, the witch who casted the spell on me said, 'In order to break the spell, you must have a princess share her food, her bed, and her heart with you. Only then can you be a human again,'" Natsu said.
"I wonder what she meant by heart," Lucy said, "I mean the food and bed part was straight forward but heart."
"I think she meant that you and I must fall in love and share true love's kiss," Natsu responded, "The witch said that her sister once casted a similar spell on a prince and turned him into a frog. She told me to find that story about that prince and that will give me a clue on meant by her heart. I traveled to a cousin who married a bookworm, and she told me that the watch meant that I get a princess to fall in love with me."
"Oh, I know that story," Lucy said, "I think I might be able to help you, I'll take to my castle. Come on." Lucy put her book into her bag and she took Natsu to her castle.
"Lucy, who this is," her maid Virgo asked as she looked at the Dragon that was in Lucy's arms as she entered the castle.
"This is Natsu," Lucy replied, "Is my father home?"
"He won't be returning till Sunday," Virgo answered, that was four days from now, "He went to the Draco Kingdom to talk to King Igneel Dragneel about the lost prince case but I am not aloud to say anything further on the subject."
"Okay," I replied, "Well, I'll be in my room if anyone needs me."
"I wonder why your father is in my kingdom," Natsu whispered and Lucy hummed.
"Maybe he is helping found you for some unknown reason," Lucy said as she carried the dragon to her room, "After all, you have been missing for six months."
Meanwhile in the Draco Kingdom, Jude and Igneel stood in front of the place prince Natsu was spotted at which was Mavis the witch's tower. "Why if isn't the King Igneel and King Jude," Mavis said, "What can I do for you two?"
"You can tell us, what you have done to my son," Igneel spoke and Mavis laughed.
"Prince Natsu came to me looking for a way to have an adventure," Mavis responded, "So I gave him just that."
"Then you know of the prince's whereabouts," Jude asked and Mavis gave a wicked smile.
"Perhaps I do," Mavis responded, "But I would need something special to Prince that can pour a potion on that will guide you to the prince."
"I'll do anything to get to my son," Igneel replied and Mavis's dish smile grew.
"Igneel, don't forget that all magic comes with a price," Jude spoke and Igneel sighed.
"Oh, Jude, you must have learned that the hard way, huh," Mavis commented and Jude nodded.
"A dark wizard named Zeref took my wife's life to save my daughter's," Jude responded, "My wife forced me to make the deal and my daughter doesn't know why her mother is dead."
"Oh, Zeref does charge high for his magic," Mavis responded, "I only ask that you give me a passport so I can go to the Tokage Kingdom so I can visit my sister."
"Easy enough," Igneel responded, "Tell me more about this potion."
Back in Fiore, Lucy had Natsu in her lap and he ate off her plate and Lucy smiled. "You know Natsu," Lucy said, "You eat a lot."
"Well, my butler Gray Fullbuster said the same thing," Natsu replied, "He says that I could the hottest thing in the world and I wouldn't know which is why he called me different names that relate to heat and I hate his guts for it. It was about that time that I, Gajeel, Levy, Erza, Jellal, and Gray were all playing truth or dare and I dared Gray to eat an 8 pounds of ice-cream and he finished it in hour without getting a brain freeze so I call him different thing that relate to the cold."
"Hahaha, thats so funny," Lucy responded as she took a slip of tea and she smiled, "Say Natsu, you told that a witch turned you into a dragon, but you never did tell me why."
"My father told me that I was going to get married, before he could say anything else I ran out," Natsu said, "I had heard about this witch named Mavis, I went to her and told her about my hungry for adventure. She said she would help and I believed her. I gave her the information on Tokage Kingdom and she turned me into a dragon. I thought it was cool and I did a lot of travel, but when I tried to ask for directions or talk to someone, people would always run away fearing my appearance. So three months ago, I returned to Mavis and asked her how to change which is when she told me what I told you."
"I wanted to do similar about six months ago when my father told me that I was to arrange to be married, but he wouldn't tell me who or why," Lucy responded as her browns stared at the ceiling, "I tried to run but my father had guards at every exit, even below the windows. He won't take me out of Mongolia without an army right behind me."
Natsu smiled and laughed, then he said, "Your dad must know you by the back of his."
"Yea, you would think that," Lucy responded, "Thats not really true though. My father does care, but he doesn't have a normal talk with me, you know the how was your day chat. In fact, I get lonely because he is either in his study or away on business, especially after my mom died a few years ago. To him, I'm just a mascot who stands straight and smiles and waves at the crowd and I hate it."
"Lucy, you are smartest, most beautiful weirdo I have ever met," Natsu replied and Lucy got angry.
"YOU JUST CALL ME WEIRD," Lucy yelled, then she pounded Natsu's head, "YOU'RE THE TALKING FLYING LIZARD!"
"I'm a DRAGON," Natsu responded and he flew out of Lucy's arms.
"Get back here, you crazy dragon," Lucy yelled as she chases the pink dragon known as Natsu.
After hours of playing tag, Virgo came in said with a sing-song voice, "You llliiikkkkeee each other!"
"Virgo," Lucy whined and Natsu laughed.
"Miss, you better get to bed," Virgo spoke and Lucy nodded and she made her way to the main stairs.
"Wait for me, Lucy," Natsu called out as he flew behind Lucy.
"Last one there is a rotten egg," Lucy cheered.
"Hey, you get a head start thats no fair," Natsu responded and Lucy giggled as she raced up stairs, "You haven't even told ,e where your room is."
"Hey, you get a head start that's no fair," Natsu responded and Lucy giggled as she raced upstairs, "You haven't even told ,e where your room is."
At the same time, back in the Draco kingdom: Jude and Igneel were talking to Happy who Natsu's best friend. Happy had blue hair and black eyes. Happy was orphan boy who met Natsu during a visit from the royal family, Happy along with Carla and Pantherlily were both invited to come live at the castle. Igneel looked Happy in the eye and asked, "Happy, do you know where Natsu's scarf is?"
"Yea, he gave it to me before he left," Happy replied with tears in his eyes, "He was really mad at you and he wouldn't tell me why."
"It's okay, we'll get Natsu back," Jude said and Happy nodded.
"Here is the," Happy said as handed him the scarf, "Please find, I miss him a lot."
"I know," Igneel responded.
The next morning, Loke, Lucy's cousin, knocked on the door. "Lucy, is true what Virgo said," Loke asked through the door and Lucy groaned as she got out of bed.
"What did Virgo tell you," Lucy asked after she opened the door.
"That you have a drag," Loke spoke, but before he finish his sentence he saw the sleeping dragon named Natsu on her bed, "You really do have a fire breathing lizard monster on your bed." Loke yelled that last part and Natsu woke up and he glared at Loke.
"It's bad to wake a sleeping," Natsu growled, "You might get roasted." Then Natsu flew a Loke with his mouth ready to roar fire.
"He can talk to," Loke said and he was able to stop Natsu and started exam Natsu, "Amazing."
"Yes, he was a prince who was turned into dragon by a witch," Lucy spoke and Loke let Natsu go.
"Really," Loke asked and Lucy nodded, "Sounds like something you would wish for, Lucy."
"Yea, he also says that I have to share my bed, my food, and my heart in able to change him back," Lucy replied and Natsu stared at Lucy in disbelief because she was making it sound so simple like even a dummy would get it.
"Funny that sounds like that one story that your mom told as kids… Lucy did you wish really hard for this because this is something you would want," Loke said, "As you would put it, a fairy tale come true."
"Sh-shut u-up, Loke," Lucy squealed and she hit Loke on the head.
"Yea, this story sounds like a rewrite of the princess and the frog," Loke commented, "And you would love that. Kiss the frog, or in this case dragon, and your prefect husband will appear. Lucy, it's like your mom told us, dreams really do come true."
"Loke, you're embarrassing me," Lucy whined and Lucy's cheeks got red.
"I think it's cute," Natsu commented and Lucy looked at Natsu in awe.
"Whats cute," Lucy asked as she stared at Natsu.
"Your blush, its cute," Natsu replied, "And your eyes are pretty too."
"Thanks," Lucy replied and her cheeks got redder.
"You have hardly known each for a day and you two are already falling in love," Loke said, "I'm going to see Aries before I vomit."
"Its not like that," Lucy responded and her blush got worst.
"Whatever you say," Loke said, "Virgo also told me that breakfast is ready."
"Food," Natsu yelled then he flew out the room.
"He really is a nice catch, Lucy," Loke said with a snicker.
"How did I end up in this mess," Lucy groaned, then she walked out of her room with Loke right behind her.
A few hours later, Lucy and Natsu finished eating breakfast and Virgo asked, "So princess, what are your plans for today?"
"I don't know," Lucy replied but Natsu smiled.
"I was thinking that maybe we could go to the Library," Natsu said and Lucy smiled a bright smile.
"That would be wonderful," Lucy responded.
Natsu was zooming around the room as Lucy finished getting ready and he said, "Hurry Lucy!"
"I'm coming out now," Lucy said and she came out wearing some jeans and a pink short sleeve shirt.
"Lucy, you look different in a good way," Natsu commented and Lucy blushed slightly but she smiled.
"So why did you want me to wear some jeans and a shirt," Lucy asked.
"We're getting out of here," Natsu replied, "And if you wore your normal stuff, people would know you're the princess."
"So we're not going to the library," Lucy said as she walked over to Natsu.
"Yea, we're going to the Library but who said it was going to be the library here in this castle," Natsu responded then he grabbed Lucy by the back her shirt and carried her out to the sunny blue sky.
Meanwhile, Jude and Igneel stood in front of Mavis and gave her the passport and the scarf. "So how does the potion work," Igneel asked and Mavis smiled.
"I pour the potion on the scarf and it will lead the way to Natsu," Mavis responded, "But I warn you that when you find him, him may not be human."
"What do you mean not human," Jude asked.
"He might be a dragon, pink scales and yellow skin about 3 feet tall," Mavis said with a few giggles.
"How will he change back," Igneel asked and Mavis stared at him.
"He has to fall in love with a princess," Mavis said, "Oh, and I was watching him throw my crystal ball earlier and he is doing quite well with Princess Lucy. In fact, they've been in love since they met."
"They've never met," Jude responded.
"They did, just yesterday," Mavis responded with a soft smile, "And it was love at first sight, but those two teens are so blinded, oh and aren't they engaged."
"How did you know that," Jude and Igneel asked.
"Oh, I know a lot, I'm very smart and a witch," Mavis answered, "A good witch too, you both should be thanking me because this way those two fall in love before they get married."
"If you knew where Natsu was, why didn't you just tell us yesterday," Jude asked.
"Mavis, that is very kind of you, but the information you gave us helped very much so you have earned this passport," Igneel responded and he handed Mavis the passport.
"Mavis, that is very kind of you but the information you gave us helped very much so you have earned this passport," Igneel responded and he handed Mavis the passport.
"Oh, thank you king Igneel," Mavis said as she took the passport, "Oh and Jude, I highly suggest that, even though you know where Natsu is, you must stay here till tomorrow at noon and I also suggest you go with him, Igneel."
"And whys that," Jude asked and Mavis grinned.
"You'll see," Mavis answered, "Now, if you excuse me, I have a sister to go see." After that Mavis picked her suitcase and walked out her front door as Jude and Igneel realized that there was nothing but a candle, a table, and a note that said:
Dear King Igneel and King Jude,
Thank you for your help, please put this candle when you are finished this note. I like to ask you to please tell Natsu that I'm sure that I turned him into a dragon, but the fates told me that I had to in order for him to find his true love. I apologize for the problems that magic has caused and I hope we meet again someday.
Sincerely,
Mavis Vermilion, the Good Witch
P.S.: Just give this to Natsu so he can read it himself.
"Wow, she is really good," Jude said and Igneel put out the candle and they left the tower.
Back with Natsu and Lucy, they had just landed in front of a library called Seishin Library. "The Seishin Library, the biggest library know to Earthlanders," Lucy said, "I've always wanted to come here!"
"I was hoping you read me some stories," Natsu spoke and Lucy smiled.
"Of course," Lucy replied, then they ran into the library.
Hours later, Lucy was reading the end of The Emperor's New Clothes to Natsu as she said, " 'But he hasn't got anything on!' the whole town cried out at last. The Emperor shivered, for he suspected they were right. But he thought, 'This procession has got to go on.' So he walked more proudly than ever, as his noblemen held high the train that wasn't there at all."
"That was a funny story," Natsu commented as he laughed.
"Yea, I tried to do something similar with my dad," Lucy responded, "My mom caught me before I could and she scold me."
"Your mom sounds nice," Natsu spoke and Lucy smiled.
"My mom had blonde hair like me, but it was more wavy and she also had soft brown eyes like me," Lucy said with her soft and passionate voice that told you she missed her a lot, "She loved the stars, reading, me, my dad, and her kingdom."
"You must miss her," Natsu replied and tears rolled out of Lucy's eyes, "I wish I could hug you to make you happy."
"Yea, me too," Lucy whispered and she wiped the tears away.
"I'm getting hungry," Natsu said and Lucy giggled.
"I'll go put this away and we can head home," Lucy replied, "After all, we missed lunch because we so wrapped up in the books and lost track of time."
"I love listening to your voice, its so pretty," Natsu said and Lucy blushed as she puts the book on the shelf.
"Thanks Natsu," Lucy responded, "Lets go home and get something to eat."
"Good, I'm starving," Natsu said and he picked Lucy up and flew her back to the castle.
Meanwhile, the good witch named Mavis was sitting in the back of a bar watching Lucy and Natsu on her crystal ball. "It won't be long now," Mavis whispered to herself and she smiled as she took a slip of her hot jasmine tea, "It will be tomorrow at sunset just as Jude and Igneel arrive. Oh, how exciting!"
"Ma'am, here is your chicken dumplings," a waitress said as she put the bowl of chicken dumplings in front of Mavis.
"Thank you very much," Mavis said, the waitress smiled and nodded, then walked away, "It's time to eat."
A hour or so later, Natsu and Lucy made it to the castle and had dinner then they went to bed. The next morning, Lucy woke up to see a sleeping dragon head on her stomach. "It was so cute that I couldn't wake you two up," Lucy heard a familiar voice say and she looked around and saw Virgo smiling.
"Good morning, Virgo," Lucy said with a smile.
"You best get up," Virgo said, "Time to get ready for today, your dad is coming home today and he'll be home by sunset, and Reedus will be waiting in the Fairy Tail Garden."
"Oh, Reedus," Lucy cheered, "I love his paintings, he always seem to get the magic of the moment in his paintings."
"Yes, he does," Virgo responded as she looked at one Reedus's paintings that was hanging in Lucy. The painting was one of Lucy's favorites, in this painting was painted when Lucy was five and she wore a white sundress, her mother wore a light blue dress and she held a smiling Lucy in her arms, and just behind Lucy's mom is her dad who wore a gray suit with a blue tie.
"I wonder what he'll paint this time," Lucy said then she shook the sleeping dragon awake very gently, "Natsu, its time to wake up or else I'll have Loke eat all the bacon."
"Did you say BACON,"Natsu asked as his head shot up.
"Yep, now, lets get ready before Loke eats all," Lucy cheered and Natsu rushed off to the bathroom.
Many hours later, about three hours before sunset, Lucy had pulled Natsu toward a gravestone and Natsu asked, "Lucy, what are we doing a gloomily area on when it's bright and sunny day."
"Want you to meet my mom," Lucy said with a smile, "You'll like her, after that I'll show you the kids' garden, the water springs, the butterfly house, then finally my favorite garden the Fairy Tail."
"Fairy Tale? Sounds kinda girly," Natsu said and Lucy glared at Natsu.
"Fairy Tail, as in T-A-I-L not T-A-L-E," Lucy replied.
"Still sounds girly," Natsu said as they got closer to Layla's grave.
Lucy rolled her eyes and she said, "My mother said that it was Dragons and Fairies who taught wizards and witches how to use magic before they disappeared. The Fairy Tail Garden is believed to be filled with magic, and the best time to be there at Sunset during this time of year because the Sakura tree there has magic that allows it to change colors. It's so pretty. And I always wanted Reedus to try to paint it."
"I can think of something that is far more beautiful for him to paint," Natsu mumbled as he stared at Lucy.
"Did you say something, Natsu," Lucy asked and Natsu blushed.
"Nope," Natsu replied quickly.
"Okay," Lucy said with a shrug and then they got to Layla's gravestone an Lucy and Natsu kneeled for the stone, "Hello mama, I like you to meet my… umm… Dragon! Although he is actually a prince."
"The name's Natsu, Natsu Dragneel," Natsu spoke and Lucy giggled.
"I think my mom likes you," Lucy said and Natsu grinned and pulled out a rose and put it on the grave.
"I hope so," Natsu whispered and Lucy smiled.
"Come on, Natsu, there is so much more to show you," Lucy said then she pulled Natsu up and she ran off taking Natsu with her.
Meanwhile, Jude and Igneel were on their way to Fiore. "You today, our kids were supposed to meet for the first time," Jude said as he watch the county side move by.
"Well, if what Mavis said is true, then we have nothing to fear," Igneel replied, "And it will make the marriage easier."
"Very true," Jude said, "Reedus is coming to my castle today, he was going to paint their first meeting."
"Thats prefect," Igneel said, "Reedus is an amazing artist."
About two hours later, the sun has almost set and Natsu and Lucy just outside the Fairy Tail Garden. "Come on, Natsu," Lucy said as she had Natsu flying right behind her.
"Are we there yet," Natsu asked and Lucy came to a huge gate.
"Here we go," Lucy said and she pushed open the gate and there was a huge Sakura tree surround by a water fountain, "Isn't it amazing? I mean it will be mind blowing once the rainbow happens."
Just a few minutes seconds before the sun set, Reedus had set up his painting gear in front of the gates to the fairy tail. "Say Lucy," Natsu said.
"Yes, Natsu," Lucy replied as she looked over at him with her brown eyes shining and her blonde hair glowing.
"Is weird that to say I love you after only knowing for three days," Natsu asked.
"Not at all," Lucy responded then the Dragon shared a kiss with the pinches and began to change to a prince.
Meanwhile, Jude and Igneel were following the scarf as it flew through the air lending them to Natsu and Lucy. "Good thing we kept the potion, right," Igneel said and Jude nodded.
The scarf floated passed Reedus and went straight to Natsu then wrapped around his neck. After that, the sun was set and Sakura tree began to change colors as Natsu's transformation completed. "This is it," Reedus said and he quickly painted the scene before him.
When Natsu and Lucy broke, Lucy's eyes went wide and she pulled back and she said, "Natsu, you're not a dragon anymore."
"Now, I'm your prince charming," Natsu whispered and Lucy giggled.
"You'll always be a dragon in my eyes," Lucy replied and Natsu chuckled, "And Natsu…"
"Yes, Lucy," Natsu whispered.
"I like your pink hair," Lucy said.
"Its salmon," Natsu yelled and Lucy laughed.
"Sorry to interrupt," Jude said and Natsu and Lucy, "But Lucy, I like you to meet your future husband, Natsu Dragneel prince of Draco."
"And Natsu, I like you to meet your future wife Lucy Heartfilia princess of Fiore," Igneel said and Natsu and Lucy were shock.
"That looks prefect," Jude said as he looked at the painting. The painting was of Natsu (human) and Lucy kissing with sparkles swirling around them and the rainbow Sakura tree right behind them.
Meanwhile, Mavis was sitting with her sister watching Natsu and Lucy on her crystal ball. "I knew that would get together," Mavis cheered and popped some chocolate into her mouth.
A month later, Natsu and Lucy got married and two years later they had a beautiful baby girl with pink hair and brown eyes named Nashi. And they lived happily ever after.
