All was quiet in the Slytherin common room. Groups of people were clustered across the room having whispered conversations, constantly looking over their shoulders in fear of being overheard.

In other words, it was nearly impossible to go unnoticed.

Nearly. Because no one noticed little Astoria Greengrass. She seemed to sink into the shadows, her long black hair (so unlike her sisters, mothers and grandmothers) hiding her face. Her blue-green eyes always watching, her ears always listening, never spotted.

A secret would slip out, a couple of words she had overheard said to the right person and a whole reputation would crash down around her victim.

Everyone would be wondering who knew? What had happened? And after all that, Astoria would still be sitting in the shadows, listening.
