I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear, 'cause that's just who I am this week.

Fall Out Boy; 'Sugar, We're Going Down'

If anyone had bothered to inform Gin of the true extent of Kira's loyalty, he would have laughed.

He knew that his little Kira-kun was loyal; he himself had weaned and trained him to be so. Every biting kiss had been a command; every touch a scathing promise. It had been fun to inure his vice-captain to him; the boy had pretty eyes and a pretty face made Gin almost feel a bit sorry for him when he ripped into him without warning, or maybe pulled on that soft hair to see that face contort. But he thought that his vice-captain's good sense would have prevailed over everything else. He didn't expect to have to reveal his betrayal to Kira-kun when soliciting his help; he would have at least thought that the blond had suspected something. But it seemed the Gin owed himself some credit. His little lieutenant had never known a thing. And even better, he was willing to help. Still, the man's stupidity was a bit laughable.

But who was he to complain? It was always useful to have someone who believed your lies, someone who only saw one of your faces.

Before the whole debacle, if anyone had told Kira that his captain was a traitor, he would have killed them.

Ichimaru-taichou wasn't the most orthodox of people, if the truth were to be told, and he could see how others could be wary of him. In fact, before he had made the move into the Third Squad, he too had been leery of the slit-eyed man. But after time, he had come to see what a dependable man his captain was. Sure, he had his quirks, but they all served to make him more efficient, more powerful, more… desirable. Kira's cheeks still colour to think of pleasure that his captain had given him, soft caresses and probing touches; harsh words and deep bruises. It was all because he loved him, Kira knew. Kira knew.

Even now, in between cursing himself for his stupidity and his blindness, he still wishes that Ichimaru-taichou were still here, duplicity and all.

A/N: It's disturbing how much I love these two.
