Asphyxiation
Summary: You'd never think, that since vampires don't need to breathe that suffocation would be a problem.
Note: Prompt response to suffocation. Picks up right after Edward breaks up with Bella in the woods, and Alice sees it happen. Oh, and on an unrelated note, anyone gonna be at the Toronto Con this summer? If anyone is and wants to chat about it, feel free to PM or say so in a review. Enjoy! Oh one other note, i know I haven't posted anything in a long time, but once a few things get wrapped up and my sister, dramaqueen07 pulls her head out of Harry Potter fanfic long enough to make sure i don't have semi-colons where i need comma and periods where i need exclamation points. Reviews=love, yes? Thanks!

It was like asphyxiation, it was the only way she could describe it. Seeing things was her very second nature, it wasn't like it was unusual or uncomfortable at all to so carefully watch everyone's future, to see them made her feel increasingly better. But this was like a horrible submersion into a future she didn't want to see.
Edward seemed to know she was after him even before she'd become able to separate her thoughts from the future.
"You can't do this Edward!" She yelled at him, unable to fight the tinge of misery and exhaustion at the edges of her words. "You can't."
"I already did." Edward's bitter tone was sharp and as misery filled it as she'd heard in her head. "Leave me alone and go away."
"She'll forgive you." Alice was already trying to figure the proper way to explain this to Edward. Mistakes happened. "Tell her you lied to her, and how completely foolish you are, Edward."
"No." Edward hissed under his breath.
"Fine." Alice replied with just as much venom in her tone. "I will."
When she looked back into Edward's eyes he was looking at her with fury. She was, for a moment, almost frightened of her favorite brother. And then the look was gone.
"You will not." Edward warned her. "You will go away, we all will. I won't allow you to do that Alice."
She was glad she didn't have the ability to cry anymore, but in case Edward forgot, she still had emotion. And right now he was cutting through her heart.
"We are going to leave her alone, and allow her to live her life. You will never contact her Alice."
Alice felt something in her body quaver. "But…"
"No!" Edward growled.
She wished Jasper had been here, that she'd brought him with her. He could have convinced Edward, she was sure. He wouldn't have wanted to, but he would, he'd do it for her.
"Alice." Edward's voice was pained as he drew out her name in an outtake of unnecessary breath.
"She's my best friend Edward. I love her."
"I'm sorry." Edward's voice seemed to break with misery as he apologized. "No."
She broke into a run, she wasn't faster than Edward, but she was close. Not foolish enough to go after Bella either, anyway, it wouldn't matter if she did. She saw the future. There was nothing she could change of her own accord.
It was Edward, it was always Edward. This future was wholly dependent on him, and there was nothing she could do about it. The realization felt like she was slowly being suffocated.
