"You need a teacher. I could show you the ways of the Force." Rey hesitated. Her parents were probably dead, and definitely never coming back. What did she have if she went back? The chance to find Luke Skywalker? Until today, she had thought he was a myth. She'd thought a lot of things were myths before today.

There were Finn and Chewbacca. Not to mention BB-8. The little droid had grown on her. She thought about how Han, Chewie, and Finn had come back for her. They really did seem to care. She could go back with Chewie and Finn. She could find Luke and maybe have a future with Finn. Or...

Rey and Kylo still had their lightsabers locked together. Rey looked up at Kylo, his face illuminated by the white light of the lightsabers. Another possible future. She looked into his eyes and saw an almost... desperateness. He needed her.

And, he was right, she needed a teacher.

She needed him.

Slowly, she blinked and stopped pressing so hard against Kylo. Partly because he was so much larger than he and fighting him was so tiring, and partly because she'd made up her mind.

Kylo sensed that Rey wasn't trying as hard. Most of the tension between his lightsaber and her's came from him, so he pushed even harder. Rey's much smaller frame was pushed up against a tree as a result.

Snow fell off of a branch and landed on her head. Rey shook it off and stared Kylo in the eyes defiantly. Even so, she was only pressing Luke's saber against his to stop him from cutting through her.

Rey looked into Kylo's eyes once again. His eyes were pleading. Rey sensed something else in him, and she wasn't sure if it was in his eyes or the Force.

She could tell, however, that power wasn't the only reason he wanted to train her. They both knew that Rey didn't know how strong she was, and to have that power on Kylo's side? Rey was pretty sure he'd do almost anything to redeem himself.

Kylo saw his own loneliness in her, that they were equals. Equals in the way that only someone as lonely as him could understand him. He'd seen it in her eyes when she was in that restraining chair. It's why he took off his mask.

"You're just a monster in a mask," she'd said, and he'd taken it off to show... something. Normally, he wouldn't care if someone thought he was a monster. He kind of was. But with Rey, he did. He wanted to... impress her.

Pulled back to the present, he saw that spark in her eyes. He already loved those eyes and hated himself even more for it.

Kylo opened his mouth, just about to tauntingly ask if she'd made up her mind. Before he could, however, Rey switched off her saber and ducked down so that his saber wouldn't slice through her as Kylo lost his balance.

He tumbled forward, all the force that had been pressing them in place suddenly gone. When the lightsaber that Rey was using was no longer pushing against his own, he wasn't prepared and he cut through the tree.

After regaining his balance, Kylo blinked and looked around. "Where'd she go?" he asked himself. "Snoke will never forgive me if she gets away."

A moment later, he saw her. Rey was standing a little to his left, so Kylo turned. Her arms were in the air, Luke's lightsaber hanging from her belt.

"You were right," she said loudly and looked longingly at Kylo. Her voice got quieter as she spoke, and she stared down at the snow on the ground. "I need a teacher." Kylo moved closer so he could hear her clearly. Rey looked up, looked him in the eyes, and whispered.

"I need you."

A/N: This is my first story. I'm a little nervous about posting it, but I'd really apreciate feedback! (what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong/how to improve) thanks for reading! I'll try to update every few days until the story is complete.
