(A/N: Not quite sure why I'm doing this, but today I'm in the mood to write drabbles about Red. I might make this into a random collection of drabbles, or perhaps just leave it at three. Who knows…)

Question

Sometimes I hate being the best.

Three years ago, I didn't fully understand what it truly meant to assume the title of 'champion'.

Why did I do it? Was it to become powerful? Was it so that I could meet powerful trainers? Perhaps because I wanted to see if I could even do it?

There is much more to the title than just being the greatest. There are constantly swarms of people around you. Trainers, fans, interviewers...it became nothing like the quiet life I once knew in Pallet.

Eventually I left civilization.

Because sometimes, I hate being the best.
