Shelagh come out of the bathroom that night with her pale blue nightgown that had pink flowers on it and came down just below her knees. It wasn't one of her favorites, but with all her other nightgowns either sitting in the hamper or hanging to dry she had no other choice. She walked down the hallway and into the bedroom to find Patrick sitting on his side of the bed reading The Lancet. He looked up at her and his face softened as he said

"I am not sure why you don't wear that nightdress more often, it really beings out your eyes and you look splendid in it"

"Oh Patrick" she replied with blushed cheeks. She walked to the other side of the bed, sat beside him and let her head rest on his shoulder. Patrick put down The Lancet on the nightstand and put his arm around her in response.

"It all feels like a dream" said Shelagh

"What feels like a dream?" asked Patrick

"Being married to you. Sometimes it feels like any second I am going to wake up in Nonnatus house and still be Sister Bernadette" she replied

"I feel the same way sometimes too, well except I'll wake up and I will still be in love with a woman I can't have" he told her

"But now we can be together and I am so thankful for that everyday" he added

"I am so thankful for our relationship and for the opportunity to be apart of Timothy's life full time" she said

Patrick grabbed her hand and planted a kiss on her knuckles, then on the top of her hand. He planted kisses up her arm and before she knew it he was kissing her neck which sparked a fire within her stomach. Moments like this made her question why she took religious vows in the first place. She felt a rush of cool air as his lips left her neck. They locked eyes just for an instant before their lips met into a passionate kiss. She felt his tongue press against her lips and she opened her mouth, indulging in this beautiful and mysterious aspect of marriage.

Patrick broke the kiss and said as he tried to catch his breath "I really do like that nightdress on you"

"Thank you, although why would you bring this up now?" She asked him

"Because it is such a shame that you won't be wearing it much longer"
