"Lucy."
"Hmmmm…?" Lucy mumbled, not really paying attention to Natsu's whines. She was in the middle of the last novel in the Evermore Trilogy, which she was reading through with Levy.
"Luce…." Natsu collapsed next to her on the couch. "I'm bored."
"Go find Happy."
"He's with Carla."
"Then..go fight with Gray or Gajeel or Elfman or whoever like you always do."
"I want to stay with you."
She glanced up. the dragon slayer sat in front of her, sulking. She sighed. "Natsu, you know I love spending time with you, and I do, all the time, but right now I just really want to finish this book."
Natsu didn't reply, and Lucy went back to her book. This one is definitely the best out of all three, she thought. Suddenly, something heavy and warm landed in her lap. She set down her book. "Natsu, really?"
No reply.
She huffed, and bounced his head up and down, trying to get him off. "I know you're not asleep. You're eyes aren't even closed."
Natsu squeezed his eyes shut. "They are now."
"Come on. You're heavy."
He ignored her. "You haven't gone out all day. I thought you could use a break."
"I appreciate the thought, but I'm fine. Really."
"I found a job. It's a pretty easy one, too." Natsu sat up and shoved the flyer in her face.
Lucy took the flyer. Her eyes widened when she took in the reward. "This reward-It's-"
"-That book on wizardry you've been looking all over for," Natsu finished.
She turned to him. "You chose this..for me?"
The pink-haired mage grinned widely at her. "Of course I did."
Lucy smiled back. Natsu had won again. "Fine…I'll take a 'break'. Let's go."
"Wooohoooo!" Natsu cheered, pulling the blonde in for a quick hug.
"Ow, Natsu, you're squeezing me."
"Sorry!" He let go of Lucy and stood up, tugging her along with him. "Now let's go get Happy and then go!"
He can be so sweet and thoughtful sometimes. Lucy smiled again, wider this time. She followed him out of her apartment, never letting go of his warm hand.
This is why I love him.
"Okay."
