Luke Danes died March 1, 2023, with his family by his side in Stars Hollow, CT after a four year battle with Leukaemia, he was 57 years old.

A service will be at 2 pm. Sunday in Stars Hollow. Reverend Archie Skinner and Rabbi David Barans will officiate.

Luke lived his whole life in Stars Hollow. He was a prominent member of this community from birth right through to his death. Luke could accomplish anything he set his mind to - school, sports, raising his sister Liz after his parents William and Mary Danes passed away, graduating and turning his father's hardware store into our much beloved Luke's Diner.

Luke loved to fish, he loved to rant, he loved baseball and was never without his blue ball cap - a gift from his wife long before they married and he especially loved this town and all its inhabitants.

Luke is survived by his wife Lorelai Gilmore-Danes and his daughters, Rory Gilmore-Huntzberger, April Nardini-Danes, Emma and Billie Danes; his sister Liz, her husband and two children - a niece Doula and his nephew Jess Mariano and his 5 grand-children Milo, Lori, Laila, Ellie and Jamie. He will be joining is son Liam Richard.

Luke Danes was the scowling, anti-social grump that held this town together. He will be deeply missed.

Tell all my mourners

To mourn in red -

Cause there ain't no sense

In my bein' dead.

Langston Hughes,

In honour of the flannel wearing, plaid favouring tell-it-like-it-is everyman, his family have advised that any attendees to the service feel free to Luke- it-up if you know what that means.
