Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon, never will, but Kiku and her family are all mine!
A/N: The long awaited sequel to my previous hit, When Tomorrow Is Too Far Away is finally here! Woot! I finally got new inspiration to write, and this story starts out just like the other one: with Kiku depressed. Sorry! But, enjoy!
PROLOGUE
Kiku sat on her bed; her long black hair loose around her shoulders. The lights were off, cloaking the small girl in darkness.
"Imouto-chan?"
Ichiro Tanaka stuck his head into Kiku's room. He flipped on the light and smiled weakly at his sister.
"Yeah Nii-sama?" Kiku raised her head to lock eyes with Ichiro.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
In an instant, Kiku moved from her bed and attached herself to her brother's waist. Ichiro sighed and rested a hand on her head.
"Kiku, I knew you were dating that guy."
"He was fine when we started out."
"Most guys are. Imouto-chan, there is a guy out there for you."
"The two..." Kiku's voice choked on her tears.
"They weren't for you. You are an amazing girl. I mean, you balance out an entire world! You're a soccer star and you have the voice of an angel."
Sobs prevent the young girl from arguing with her oldest brother. She cried into his chest for a good ten minutes before speaking again.
"Does Mom know, Nii-sama?"
Ichiro shook his head. "Only I know about him and the guardian thing. But everyone knows you sing like a bird."
Kiku smiled and squeezed her brother's waist. Ichiro grinned and tossled her hair.
"I almost don't recognize you without your pigtails."
A chuckle escaped Kiku's lips, as if happiness was out of place. Ichiro put a hand on her damp cheek.
"Kiku, you will do great things."
The girl's bright green eyes locked with her brother's. The crystal around her neck stopped glowing.
Ending Note: Kiku and Ichiro refer to each other as "older brother" and "little sister"
