In the Dark
A small part of Nessa knows that this isn't real.
It haunts her in the dark when she's trying to fall asleep.
The words and images mock her viciously.
She sees all the times Boq avoided her or obviously lied to her. She sees all the times she told Boq she loved him, and all the times he didn't respond.
The words are a cruel, harsh whisper. It's not real, he doesn't love you. No one loves you.
When Nessa's awake, she forces a smile on her face and pretends nothing's bothering her.
But in the dark, when there's no one to pretend for, the smile falls off her face and she cries until she can't cry anymore, and then she cries some more.
In the dark, she'll never be able to fool herself.
