The Vampire Diaries
A.N. Certainly do not own TVD. Just a little drabble for the readers.
It had been about nine months since they had been consumed by the light. Nine months of being separated from his family and his powers but nine months of being with Bonnie.
They had changed in this time together, having no one else to rely on, fending off all dangers and threats with the hope of going home. Well, that was his hope, Bonnie had stopped believing that she would be able to return for a while now but that did not stop her from trying. She was such a paradox but he could not count the number of times he had thanked the higher powers for choosing her as the person he would have to go through this with.
'Hurry Damon!" her words reached him. He blinked, looking at the wind blowing her hair, her hazel eyes dark as she held her hands out and toward the portal she had created.
"I am not leaving you Bonnie" he answered while walking closer to her. He saw the anger flash in her eyes and the helplessness.
"Go!" she screamed although her hands were already beginning to drop from the sheer power it took to keep the portal open.
"We will find another way." he told her gently pushing some strands of hair away from her face.
"There is no other way." she answered, tears of frustration in her eyes.
"I am not leaving you." he reiterated while placing his hands on hers, effectively stopping the flow of her power and closing the portal.
She fell against him with a soft cry. He shook his head. She was always the martyr, always the saviour. Her fist hit his chest.
"Why are you so stubborn?" she asked angrily but the look of despair on her face softened her words.
"Why are you so willing to die ...more?" he countered with a smirk.
"Damon, they're all waiting for you, Stefan, Alaric and ...Elena." she tried to reason with him.
"And they're not waiting for you?" he questioned, eyebrows raised.
"You know what I mean..." She shrugged of his question "but you are throwing away our chances by staying here, if you go back then you can find a way to bring me back too." she told him firmly but looked away when she saw the incredulous look on his face.
"You know I am not leaving you here, we are in this together". He grabbed her shoulder to get her full attention. "If there is a way to bring us back, the Scooby Doo gang will find it but until that happens, we will remain together."
"Damon ..." she began but did not finish her sentence.
He kissed her, long open mouthed kisses until he felt her melt against him.
Everything had changed. Their priorities had changed, they were closer than ever before and he was not going to allow them to be separated.
