It had taken countless experiments of trial and error. Several times had the Chilly Academic pondered abandoning his project until he saw that look in his hero's eyes. Everytime they walked the town, Lexaeus gazed upon the small children with such longing and kissed his beloved's hand tenderly. Though that simple motion Vexen could hear the painful yearning for the joys of a family. He would never outright ask for this, Vexen had many important projects to attend to. Yet as the two lay toegther idly talking through long evenings the gears in Vexen's head began turning. Possibilities would open up before the scientist, whole new fields of genetic manipulation behind currently closed doors if he were to undertake this effort. After countless months of trials and nine more pacing his lab awaiting results, Vexen reported perhaps the greatest success of his scientific career.
Demyx nuzzled the blonde fuzz atop the baby's head, steely eyes watching the Nocturne's every move. Lexaeus sat next to them aglow with parental pride smiling the warmest smile Vexen had ever seen. It didn't matter if their son came from a petri dish, Lexaeus adored him unconditionally. The Organization had gathered around to witness the little miracle for themselves, either out of fascination or skepticism. It was difficult to tell who was more elated, the parents or the other nobodies. Several couple were grinning and eyeing Vexen already formulating names between themselves. A warm sense of pride swlled in the Academic's chest basking in recognition he craved. How wonderful it felt to finally be respected.
"What's his name?" Demyx manuvered the bottle into the baby's mouth until he finally got it right.
"Aeven." Vexen leaned into Lexaeus's touch. "A combination of our true names."
"Aww!" Demyz squealed with glee. He adored small children, especially babies. "You're a big little guy aren't ya Aevie?"
"We see who he took after, hmm?" Axel leered, winking at lexaeus. vexen chuckled and kissed the Silent Hero's burning cheeks.
"So, Vexen..." Marluxia kicked his feet up on Saïx's back earning a grumble from his grouchy lover. "When's the next one due?"
Vexen shrugged. "Depends on when I get the next set of specimens from you all." He pulled out vials labaled with names, having predicted this turn of events. Within seconds the vials and couples had disappeared into their respective bedrooms filling the spacious halls with harmonies of groans and whimpers. Vexen cuddled Aeven close, tucking himself into the security of his lover's arms savoring the sensation of this family bliss.
He was going to have plenty of work tomorrow.
