Sai sat down and admired the scene before him, rolling hills with flowers growing everywhere. Him being him, he could easily spend the day in nowhere, not being noticed or disturbed, so he could immerse himself in his paintings.
He set his bag down and laid back, careful to not to crush any flowers around him. Gazing up at the clouds, he finally could relax. His teammates- no, friends, as Sakura reminded him, had been trying to get him out more. Tsunade had even given him the week off.
He watched the clouds as they morphed into different shapes from the blowing wind. The sky was the canvas, the clouds the paint and the wind being the paintbrush. He inhaled deeply taken in the thick scent of sweet flowers. He glanced up to see a beautiful flower leaning over his forehead. It was a very pretty sky-blue lily with silver lining; he had never seen anything like it before. Carefully raising up, he grabbed his pack and had just started the petals when he felt someone behind him.
"Sai? Is that you?"
Behind him stood Ino, with a basket over her arm with her hair billowing with the wind.
"Good Morning Ino." he said with a trying smile. "What are you doing here?"
"Well as I am in the Yamanaka flower fields, I'm restocking the shop." she replied with a smirk.
He stared at her blankly and then remembered who he was talking to. "Oh, I'm sorry for trespassing. I can get-"
"No, no! You're fine!" she flustered. "I can see you're drawing the Morning Star lily. Can I see?"
"The...Morning Star lily?" he repeated.
"Yep, it's a rarity that only blooms this time of year," she said, sitting down beside him. "It's a special lily that belongs to the Liliaceae family…" she explained more about it. Sai listened and watched her talk and smile. Despite her being bossy sometimes, she was a truly intelligent kunoichi. He found it funny...
Looking back at the flower, he saw that it was the same color as her eyes. A blue like the morning sky.
"Hey, earth to Sai! You still there?" She waved and hand in front of his face. "Sorry, I was thinking. Do you mind if I pick this?"
She paused. "Sure, there are more over there if you wa-"
Sai had picked and leaned over to put it in her hair. A rosy tint washed over her face. "H-hey-!" she stammered. He picked up his paints and started to sketch her face. "It's easier when you stay still" he said. She stopped and gathered herself before breaking a small smile. "Oh Sai…"
