1- Demi Lovato - Give Your Heart A Break

"We can't do this anymore."

The words sliced into me as I watched the Medic button up his shirt, covering a chest marred with scars of old knife wounds and bullet holes. His face showed no emotion as he threaded a deep red tie around his collar.

"Why now?"

The only words that I could say, even then the words barely sounded strong in the silence between us. It seemed so sudden that the Medic would come to say such a thing. After so many months, at that.

The Medic looked at me with brilliant blue eyes, smoothing down his tie before a tired sigh issued from him.

"Because this is far too dangerous," he replied coolly as he turned away from me and continued to gather and put on his discarded clothing.

"This has always been dangerous, Markus" I countered feeling bubbles of anger slowly begin to come to the surface.

"Yes, but we have tempted fate for far too long now. We could be caught at anytime." Markus explained his face showing a brief glimpse of worry before his façade returned. My chest felt like someone had their fist clammed around my lungs, a dull ache blossoming there.

"Yet we have lasted for months now! You had no qualms up 'til now. What could have changed?" I exclaimed bitterly, the bubbling anger boiling over now

"My feelings have changed, Eric!" the Medic bit back sharply turning around to face me.

"What did you think was going to happen? That we could continue this... this childish fling 'til a spy learns of it and tells everyone?" He ranted on, anger etched his sharp features.

"Scared that people would know you liked men? That your wife would find out?" Came my angry reply, watching as all the anger flooded from Markus's face.

"Ellen has nothing to do with this," the Medic said coldly, turning on his heels, heading for the door of my nest.

"Then why the sudden change!" I growled standing up and re-adjusting my shades, my anger still burning as I watched Markus rip open the door, the cool night air tickling my skin.

"Because I don't love you." he stated, before walking out.
