Sky's POV

"There, I think that's everything," I said as I unpack the last bit of my school supplies in my backpack. Today is the first day of high school, freshmen year. "Okay, pencil. Check! Notebook, check!" After looking, checking and making I have everything. I swung my bag on my shoulders. Then I went to the mirror and look into it. I already have my blue jeans, red sneakers, black beanie and red long sleeve plaid shirt on. Then my disfigured face..., I sigh. Things would've been a lot different if I wasn't born so disfigured but things happen I guess. I lift my fingers up to my face and touch the scars from the surgery two years ago.

I have a scar on each end of my mouth and one on the left side of my nose. I touch the side of my face under the ears tracing the scar along the sides and under. Then touch my crooked lips, then finally look at my right blind eye that has a scar across it.

I sigh again, grabbing some makeup and applying it on my face, trying to cover at least some of the scars on my face, then added some jewelry especially my cross necklace. Then grab my red scarf, wrapping it gently around my neck covering the scars on the side and TT (trach tie) and then grabbing my small black mask that has little breathing holes and a red smile on it and covers my mouth. Lastly, I grab my black cotton jacket and put it on. After I finish, I look in the mirror one last time. Nodding, I ran out of my room, down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning Sky!" A woman said cheerfully, looking at me. She put a plate of pancakes on the table and gave me a hug. "Ready for your first day of school?"

I hugged her back and sat at the table, grabbing my fork and began eating. "Not really, k-kinda wishes I d-didn't have to g-go to s-school, where's brother and Ben?" I frown. It's not that I don't like learning, I love learning. It's just the people, the people are always the problem in pretty much everything. "Oh Sky, if only it was that easy and they're still sleeping." Marla giggled. "I'm sure you'll make some friends in this new school. Just need to look for the right people."

I look at her. "I doubt it...I-I mean, l-look at me. I'm ugly a-and you, your p-pretty." And I wasn't joking. My sister-in-law in a beauty. Her beautiful purple eyes, long straight dark brown hair, rosy cheeks, red lips. She has it all! Same for my brother with his husky body, amber eyes, and short jet black hair. Both if they look amazing, me...not so much.

"Oh hush! You yourself are also beautiful. You got need to stop thinking negative and what other people think." She said while crossing her arms and frowning. "Now finish up, your gonna be late!"

I quickly finish eating and grab my bag. "Shadow!" I called out. A black and white husky with a red scarf came running towards me and began licking me. "Easy, girl, easy. Come on, let's go. Bye Marla!" I waved her goodbye as I ran outside with Shadow and headed towards school.

~Time Skip~

Finally made it... I thought as I enter NockFell High. Took me a few minutes to get here since I didn't know the directions to where the school was, all I know that it was near a huge church.

I made my way towards the principle's office. Once I did, I knock on the door and waited.

"Come in!" The principal said.

I open the door, going inside the room sitting in front of the principle's desk. "Hello, Ms. Volckers." "H-hello." The principal opens one of the drawers and took out a piece of paper. "My name is Mrs. Thomas, I am the principle of NockFell High. Here is your schedule." I took the schedule, look at it and put it carefully in my pocket. "Thank y-you Mrs. Thomas..." "You're welcome, my dear." She said nodding. "Run along now before you be late for class. I nodded and headed start to 1st period which is English in room 108.

It took a while but I finally found room 108 and just in time as well as the bell rang for the class to start. I enter the classroom and went to the front of the classroom in the middle row. You would think I would sit in the very back but nope, the front is where I sit. It's easier to hide myself, close to the teacher, easier to focus, come in the classroom and out. The teacher wasn't here yet and the students just started to get into the classroom so I decided to doodle in my notebook while I wait, pulling the hoodie over my face.

The teacher finally came in and the class settles down. " Hello students, my name is Mr. Gomez. I'll be your math teacher this year."

"Hello, Mr.Gomez." The class said. The teacher nodded in approval. "This year we are going to be in sets of twos. I already paired all of you up before the school year. The reason for this is because each assignment we'll be doing a project and you need a partner to work on the project with. I'll call out the pairs and once I do both of you will sit at the same table that you are assigning too. Do I make myself clear?"

Everyone nodded, while others roll their eyes. As for me, I'm completely nervous. I usually do assignments and projects on my own but I'm guessing that won't happen this year.

"Maple and Sam, row in the right center. Bob and Miguel, left row in the back." After calling on a few more students and assigning to their tables, it was finally my turn. "Skylar and Sal, middle row in the front."

Looks like I'm staying in my spot. I look around to see who this Sal person, then I saw a blue-haired teenager wearing a mask walking up towards me. I soot over so they can take a seat which they did.

"Alright class, for today I'll let you all get to know each other and chat, but tomorrow we'll be starting with our lesson and assignment." After that was said everyone began talking to one another chatting about many things.

I'm still seated in my spot still doodling. I shifted my eye and look at the person next to me. He looks about a year older than and looks to be male though he's wearing...pigtails? Not only that but he's wearing a full-on face mask of some kind. I mean, I have my reasons for wearing one but it only covers half of my face, theirs covers the whole thing! I wonder why?

Obviously, I can sit here doodling and not talk to them. Gonna have to sooner or later, so I put my pencil down, push the notebook away and turn to look at him.

"H-hello, my n-name is S-Skylar. What's your n-name?" The teen shifted their eyes or should I say eye, towards me. "Sal, my name is Sal but everyone calls me Sally Face." The person's voice sounded deep and husky, now knowing that he's a boy.

Sally Face? That's a weird nickname to have. "Well, it's n-nice to m-meet you, Sal. Um, if I may ask. Why they call y-you, S-Sally Face?" I tilted my head while asking the question.

He didn't say anything so I decided not to ask any more questions so, I grab my pencil and notebook and began doodling again. I shifted my eye towards him and stare. He's very mysterious, I feel like there's just something about him but I don't know what. I shifted my eye back to my notebook. Maybe tomorrow he'll be more talkive? He doesn't seem like a talkative person, maybe he's shy?

"FUCK THE POLICE!"

Everyone in the class turns around to see a teenage boy busting through the class in his underwear raising his fists in the air. "Young man, get back here this instant!" The police officer shouted behind him.

"FUCK THE POLICE!!!" The boy began sprinting towards the hallway with the officer chasing behind him. Everyone in the classroom started laughing, the teacher facepalming and Sal shaking his head.

This is going to be a long school day...
